Histoantigen?

Hi, everyone,

This is a patient with cirrhosis and histoplasmosis, awaiting liver transplant.

Doctor dictates that she will get " histoantigen, " and I cannot document this

anywhere except for only 2 or 3 hits on Google. I wonder if she is just

shortening histoplasma antigen assay. In any event, I would like to know what

others would do.

Thanks!

a, I don't know if this will help, but I thought I would send you the

information I had in my books.

In my Sloane and Dusseau Work Book in Pathology & Lab Medicine it has:

histocompatibility antigen. I have in another book, Dictionary of

Immunology, histocompatibility antigen is: ...when tissue is grafted on to

another individual of the same species whose tissues do not carry that

antigen, it may incite an immune response which leads to graft rejection.

The most closely studied histocompatibility antigens are those of the H-2

histocompatibility system in mice and the HLA histocompatibility system in

man.

I don't know if this will help, but I thought it might give you a direction

to look.

Thanks for the info, Debbie. I had to flag it, so we'll see what QA has to

say.
