Guest guest
Archana- How wonderful! I can understand your joy, believe me, I can. had 15 words in January, but has almost 200 now and is starting to say 3 word phrases. I was doubtful that we would ever see this day. I look at parents who have kids with " normal " speech wistfully - oh, if they only knew! is our first child, so we don't even know what it is like to have a child with normally developing speech. We are hopeful that won't have these issues. Anyway, thank you for sharing this! I think it is so important to hear about these successes. It gives us all hope. CONGRATULATIONS to you and your son. Here's to further speech development for him and for all of our children! Guest guest
YEAH!!! I've been on this line now for almost 4 years but have mostly been lurking lately. My Josh (verbal/oral apraxia, dysarthria, hypotonia, sensory integration dysfunction, some cognitive delays) was only using " ba " at that time as his syllable to communicate - we did sign, PECS, etc., also to communicate. We started him on fish oil supps on July 27, if I remember correctly, and within 3 weeks, he was saying words. Aren't those first words the loveliest things you've ever heard? Now, at almost 8 I can't shut him up - still difficult to understand for people who don't know him, but with a large and growing vocabulary. Congratulations - give your son a HUGE hug! archana214 <archana214@...> wrote: Hi everyone I just want everyone to know that My 4.5yrs old son(severly apraxic) has started to speak, about 6mths back he had vocabulary of hardly 8-10 words, we are communicating with him through sign language, but now he is talking a whole lot(though his speech is at the developmental level of around 2.5yr old, but compared to 6mths back its huge development in his speech) Yesterday he was singing to his little sister " Goodnight baby, goodnight goodnight,I love my baby, goodnight baby " , I couldn't believe my ears when firsttime I heard him singing,it was like in dream. thanks everyone Archana
