Guest guest
Thanks to those who wrote about my symptoms and suggesting that I get tested for PCOS. I went ahead and read what I could on the links and have some questions. Please forgive my ignorance if I get this wrong, and please let me know what I need to understand. Basically, it's a syndrome that is managed, not cured (as is life, as Dr. Phil says), and the best management is weight loss, sensible eating, exercise. Aside from this, you can get numerous tests done, including one for insulin resistance, cholesterol, etc. If you have high cholesterol, I understand that you could go on meds for that, but what about insulin resistance? Isn't that a term for being prone to diabetes so wouldn't the solution be to lose weight, low carb, etc.? And what about drilling ovaries? How do you, if ever, know that you need to get this done? Thanks for the advice on the baby aspirin. I think I'll try it for the clotting and perhaps look into an anti-depressant. Would that be a prescription one or would a St. 's Wort or a SAMe count as well? Thanks again to everyone!! Barbie
