Guest guest
Great news! " nicolebouvet " <nicolebouvet@...> Sent by: cc: @yaho Subject: [ ] Jade and Proefa ogroups.com 01/26/2006 11:15 AM Please respond to Hello all. Congrats to Dylan! I know just how you feel. I started my Jade, who is 30 months on the Proefa about two weeks ago and I have seen an improvement. She took a late nap the other day and woke up late in the evening full of energy! We had to go to my apartment from my mother's that evening so she was not at all ready to go to bed when we got home and showed me so by babbling for 2 hours straight! Never, ever have any of us seen this before. Her dad was trying to put her to sleep as it was 2:30 a.m. in the morning and I told him he could try and make her fall asleep, but he better not dare tell her to be quiet! We both had a laugh at that one. But we have seen a difference in her imitating skills, she has even started dancing to children's songs, she has never bounced as children do when they are enjoying music. Her ST noticed the other day the way to Jade's heart is through music, Jade loves any music that the Leapfrog toys play so today her session will be music based! We have heard a comeback of the sounds that she used to make, and I would say at least three new independent sounds. She even uses her hand to try and move her mouth to make different sounds come out, which I try to do for her. We even got one word out of her! Bad... I didn't hear the D in bad yet, but I still said bad and she repeated it! I give her oranges and lemons to count and point out the colors to me and she does, never done before, I smell them and she puts them to her nose and smells them, never done that before either. Last but not least, I asked Jade how old is Jade, and I put up two fingers and said, " READY? TWO! " She thinks its hilarious and she tries to repeat two, which comes out as a Thhhh kind of sound. I would really say I wouldn't have seen this much progress in two weeks without Proefa.
Guest guest
That's so great about Jade's progress on the ProEFA. I am now so optimistic and hopeful that our kids will be fine. The things that you are noticing in Jade are very similar to what I'm noticing in Dylan. He imitates a lot of what he watches on TV by dancing, and hand gestures and then likes to do it in the mirror or look at himself in the glass reflection. He gets a kick out of it. This is new for him too. Just yesterday, the therapist got him to say " puppy " . It came out clear too! Three weeks ago, we were excited if he could say " moo " . Yesterday, when I picked him up from daycare, he said " bye bye " to the other kids. The other change is that he is babbling a lot more. He still favors the " d " sound, so most of the babbling is a " d " plus vowel, but it's a good sign! I'm thinking of using 's suggestion about multiple dosing. One in the morning and one at night. It makes sense if you think about it. Just like vitamin C, it only stays in your body for a limited amount of time. I'll let you know how that goes. The only trouble is that we won't know if he would've had the same results with the one dose. Anyway, I'm so glad to hear about Jade's progress! > > Hello all. > Congrats to Dylan! Guest guest
We actually saw " surges " after each increase re: multiple dosing. We have using it 3X a day for a few weeks now, and we continue to make great progress, but the surges were pretty obvious and we are at a steady (plateau?) progress now. So I suspect you will be able to tell if there is a difference. I bought EPA to start adding in the morning dose since I can't help wondering if we haven't maximized the benefit yet. I know I'm moving this faster than the group has had experience with, but I want to see just how normal we can get him!! But if ph keeps up at this pace - he will no longer qualify for state services at 3 - but that would be fine with me if he really didn't need them. I suspect he is still going to need a few years of intensive 1-1 speech but we'll see how it goes. I still can't believe how much brighter things look for us than they did this summer before we started supplements. I think good OT & ST is also helping, but but there's no doubt that this was an answer to our prayers. - [ ] Re: Jade and Proefa That's so great about Jade's progress on the ProEFA. Guest guest
Hi , Today we saw the Nuero Dev. Ped. and he says he doesn't feel she has apraxia alone, really more cognitive impairments and delays. I will write another email to explain. I don't want to give up hope on the fish oils and I do feel I am going to up the dose also. If all goes well, I will introduce the EPA also.
