I think I would freak out if my doctor was telling everyone that I was her patient, and I'm nobody. LOL. I would probably not appreciate it if someone told me that at their doc visit the doc mentioned I was a patient of his/hers. I guess I feel it is my place to tell people, or not tell people, which doctor I see. Also the visual that it conjures up of a doc and patient in the exam room of his office, examining a patient and talking about ME....I think that would bother me. I'm a very private person and wouldn't appreciate it or consider it proper. But I can also see how it could be innocent conversation that wouldn't bother most people probably. I have always been told that as an MT we are NEVER to mention names, or any other information, regarding reports we transcribe. If I mentioned to someone that I did a report on Dr. XYZ's wife, and they happened to mention it to Dr. XYZ, I imagine he wouldn't appreciate it, and might even report me to the medical records supervisor.
