My Internet Sisters:

I have to ask: A couple of weeks ago my husband and I had some red wine. Shortly after consuming, I noticed symptoms "down there" that were occurring. So I thought 'mmmm, maybe red wine affects me" Then, this evening we had a bottle of white wine and the same thing happened - shortly after consuming, I started feeling uncomfortable "down there".

I have been reading up on the low oxalate diet and they say wine is ok. I have to disagree, at least with my own body.

My question: have any of you experienced symptoms shortly after consuming wine? Just curious........

Yes, I have experience problems "down there" after consumming anthing with sugar in it. I have a yeast allery. As soon as I have something I am not suppose to, I can feel it come on quickly or 1 or 2 days later. I have also noticed that I get a really bad headache as well. I follow the yeast free diet and it helps me out alot. I just know that if I choose tp "cheat" I will pay the price.

KL, I know people with IC (bladder condition) are usually told to not drink alcohol, because it can up the bladder pain. I remember reading that the bladder and the vestibule area are made of the same embryonic tissue cells in the womb. Do you have any bladder symptoms, too? I guess the biggest thing is to simply just avoid alcohol if it 'ups' your pain. Maybe someone else will be able to chime in! Take Care,Chelle

I was quite interested in the matter also that wine can cause symptoms

to appear.

I have come to the conclusion also that it could be the alcohol in

wine. In addition to wine I have trouble with citric acid.

If you are going to drink alchohol I have read it is best to drink Vodka Club Sodas, you can add a lime or lemon wedge. I stopped all wine and beer. If I have a drink I have a Vodka Club Soda or a Vodka martini, they are less sugar and do not give me symtoms.

I can have a little bit of white wine, but only if i'm not having a flare up at the moment.

I can't even taste red wine without having issues.

Not sure why.

Also, wine contains large amounts of brewer's yeast which doesn't do any of us

any good especially if we have already a problem for example with candida.

Brewer's yeast makes a lot of people react. I produce antibodies (IgA specific

to sacharomyces cerevisiae, which is simply brewer's yeast) from it. IgA attacks

mucus membranes in the body which is not only the intestines but also the

reproductive tract (vulva, etc) and other areas.

I have noticed that vodka does not affect me. I have really been feeling well these last few weeks and since drinking the wine I feel like I have had a big setback! I'm still hurting! No more wine for me!! Live and learn!

I have had pain starting shortly after drinking alcohol too. I don't

drink wine, because of allergies to grapes, but it has happened with

beer and rum for me. It doesn't always happen, and I haven't found

any rhyme or reason to it. I had never heard anyone else mention it

though, so I thought it was just me! Sorry I don't have any other

insights, but at least you know you're not alone.

i have a long history of on & off bladder irritation and frequency and have been unableto tolerate any alchocol at all -- even the amount that would be contained in a few dropsof a tincture, chased by two full glasses of water -- without hideous bladder pain.hollisKL, I know people with IC (bladder condition) are usually told to not drink alcohol, because it can up the bladder pain.
