This is fantastic news! I'm so excited for you, and I can't think of anyone

I'd wish this to happen to more than you. You have worked SO hard to not

only lose the weight, but to maintain it AND to inspire and encourage the

rest of us who are on the same journey. CONGRATULATIONS!

I can't wait to hear more.to see what happens.and you have GOT to promise me

an autograph! LOL.no kidding! Okay???

Your friend.

Your dear friend.

Your friend for what - two years now, right?

WW's Called

....and this time it's REAL! (Last time they called and never got back

to me...called again, and then again didn't get back to me.)

Anyhow, got a voicemail from someone today who said that they are

going to fly me to NY and put me up for two nights, do a professional

makeover and photoshoot and USE ME FOR A SUCCESS STORY!

How cool is that?

It's been a good week...first a new house, now this.

Oh, my goodness, Tory, my heart rate is up so high in excitement for

you, I just might count it as my exercise for today. :) WOW!!! And

nobody I can think of deserves it more. You have certainly been my

inspiration -- got me to think about maintenance even though I am

50 pounds away from it, and (miracle of miracles) helped me drag

my butt off the couch. If this is a way WW can thank you for all of

that, I'm cheering them on with pompons and a little flippy skirt!

(And you KNOW I'd never have worn THAT before WW!)

Hi, Tory,

Please provide details! How much did you lose? How long did it take? How long

have u kept it off? Did you use Flex or Core, did you exercise everyday? What

does maintenance entail? I have asked, but, no-one will answer. I am sooooo

far away from goal, but, would like to know what to look forward to.

And what does WW do? A make-over?

Beckie,

Tory has a website where you can get all those answers you seek - at

She lost 100-something pounds and is GORGEOUS. She's kept it off for about

two years now, I think, but I have no doubt that it's going to be forever.

LOL, good for her (blushing is too cute!)

I have a long way to go, but, I am definitely in this for life. I am in no way

desiring to reach goal, and then quit. I would like to reach a point where the

weight loss is a bit noticable, though...is that that vain or what?! I already

feel so much better and so much more energy, and the grocery bill is going down

I have lots of well wishes to reply to personally, but I'll reply

Beckie:

I lost over 100 pounds (between 104 and 107 depending on the week). I

started at 222 and met my goal of 130 in December 2002. It took me ten

months to get to there. In January 2003 I made my personal goal of 120

and have been maintaining at or below that since Jan 2003.

Exercise: Yes, I exercise every day. I started exercising in the 4th

week. It is a part of my daily routine and while you CAN lose without

exercise, since you're trying to lose weight and get healthy, exercise

is a must. You don't have to run marathons, although they can be a lot

of fun. You just have to get out and move. It will speed up your loss,

firm up your muscles, and give you 100 benefits you never even thought

of.

I did the Success Plan and then moved to Flex. Since I seem to have no

ability to figure out when I am satisfied, as opposed to " Dang, I

can't believe I ate that much! " Flex is not for me.

Maintenance is just doing what you've done to lose the weight. Some

people try it on their own but most aren't successful. I just figured

that if it worked to lose, it'll work to maintain that loss. While I

don't judge someone who has restarted WWers because of regaining...it

can happen to anyone, and that's okay. But for me, I just didn't want

to do that. So...

Once you start maintenance you want to move from losing to

maintaining. You still count points, and really it becomes second

nature. You add 2-4 points a week. Weigh in once a week (or once a

month) and see if you gain or lose. If you gain, drop a point or two.

If you lose, add a point or two.

Keep on journaling and counting APs. I tend to eat about 30 points a

day, with more on the weekends. I give myself a 6 pound wiggle room. I

like being 115, but if I fall 3 pounds below, I add points. If I go 3

pounds above, I drop points. So last weigh in I was up to 117.8 and I

dropped down to 27 points. I lost 1 pound this week so I may add a

point or just go with 27 and if I need more food, I'll add it.

On the weekends, and this is a personal choice, I use some of my

flexpoints. On average I'll use 10 APs/Flexies extra on Saturday and

Sunday. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but I always use some. We tend

to eat out on the weekends. So really even though I target 30, I

average maybe 33 per day if averaged out over the week. That's a LOT

of food if you manage it right.

I do exercise. I workout twice a day. I do either aerobics or swimming

in the morning and I run in the afternoon. Don't let that make you

think " Oh I could NEVER do that " because I started out as a complete

couch potato. I added in a little pilates (from a DVD) the first few

weeks of exercising, then I joined Curves. I just gradually got into

shape and the better shape I was in, the easier exercise was and the

more I really looked forward to it. I have found a joy in running that

I never DREAMED I would. I always HATED HATED HATED running when I was

a kid! Seroiusly thought it was torture. I did my first marathon on

May 1, and have already signed up for another.

So that's it in a nutshell! I will journal every day for the rest of

my life. To me it's " health maintenance " the same is if I had to take

a prescription for high blood pressure, or test my glucose levels with

diabetes. I just prefer to write down what I eat, exercise and write

that down, and weigh in (at home) once a week rather than deal with

lifestyle illnesses. I know the " thought " of journaling forever for

some people is like " crap " but seriously. Isn't that a small price to

pay for being thin (or " regular " size) and healthy? Like I tell my

students (I teach health and computers). It isn't about living a long

life, or living a healthy life, it is about living a long AND healthy

life!

You're welcome Beckie. I sincerely want this awesome feeling of control and

health for every single person out there. I will also admit that it's self

serving. The more I discuss the plan with people, the easier it is to stay

on it. I can't do the " do as I say not as I do " thing, so sharing my tips

with people really help me to have motivation to stay on program.

I bet he will Beckie!

I started to have people comment at about 35 pounds down, but you know what?

I went to see my family and NO ONE commented! Not a word! So I decided not

to tell them until I saw them again in December (that was April). In

December I'd hit goal of -92 pounds and you know what? They didn't recognize

me! LOL! (I'm not joking!)

I will warn you, once people start noticing there are times when you almost

get " tired " of the comments. It's not that you don't appreciate it, but if

you're uncomfortable being the center of attention it can be disconcerting.

Thanks Hope! (What a beautiful name!) I can't wait. I still am having a hard

time believing it's truly going to happen.

I think that is absolutely wonderful news. You are so deserving. Enjoy

your trip and the makeover. :-)

WW's Called

....and this time it's REAL!

Hi Ann

No, I submitted myself a few years ago when I met goal at my sister's

insistence. I lost 105 pounds doing the online program. I've never actually

been to a meeting.

That's great. Did your leader submit your name and information to WW

headquarters? Also, how much have you lost?

LOL, I bet they did not recognize you! That is such an inspiration.

And yes, I am quite uncomfortable in the spotlite, but, I am working so hard, I

want it to show....Oh, well, never happy, huh?

You go girl, you are great in your training, I have checked out your web page.

You look so much YOUNGER since you lost that weight, you must still get carded

when buying cooking wine!

Blessings,

Beckie

I bet he will Beckie!

I started to have people comment at about 35 pounds down, but you know what?

I went to see my family and NO ONE commented! Not a word! So I decided not

to tell them until I saw them again in December (that was April). In

December I'd hit goal of -92 pounds and you know what? They didn't recognize

me! LOL! (I'm not joking!)

I will warn you, once people start noticing there are times when you almost

get " tired " of the comments. It's not that you don't appreciate it, but if

you're uncomfortable being the center of attention it can be disconcerting.
