Hi KL, I've used Lidocaine before sex for several yrs. now. I only apply it to the lower portions of the vestibule, especially on the left side where my main trigger area is located. If you get it around the clitoris - then you could be too numb. As long as I am careful - I don't have any problems! My husband has never complained of feeling numb. I don't use a huge amount, and I apply it about 15 minutes beforehand. Hope this helps...Chelle

I recall one of my past doctors mentioning Lidocaine to me but I have never tried it. Is it really great? I have a few questions: 1. Does it numb you so you can't feel a thing? (therefore defeating the purpose) also 2. Does is get on him so that he cannot feel anything? I remember my doc mentioning that. ---

KL, unfortunately it doesn't work well for 'everyone' but I say it's at least worth a try. Also, I was able to use the 2% Lidocaine (Rx) okay with no problems. Docs recommend using the 5% for vulvar pain, but the Rx brand caused me to burn. I ended up trying a compounded form of 5% Lidocaine this past April and love it. It doesn't burn me at all...actually feels soothing. Several of us on the group use a pharmacy in MO (they ship across the U.S.) for compounded meds for vulvar pain. I can send you the info, if you are interested. One other thing, some vulvar docs down in NC did a study on using a treatment called: Overnight Lidocaine Cottonball treatment. Have you ever heard of that? It won't help everyone, but it's at least worth knowing about. Take Care,Chelle---
