My V came on about 3 months after starting on the pill. I had been off of it for 11 years and I was 38 years old. If I could take that back I would. NO PILL at age 38.

Hi, Emma. So glad you are vastly improved. Can you tell us more about your treatment? That is, what is the E/T gel you are using (mgs, brand name, etc.)? What type of PT did you get? etc. I have vulvodynia and my symptoms are improving too, but I'm always keen to hear what others have done so that I have more tools to add to my arsenal.

As for the bc pill, I wouldn't touch them with the proverbial 10' pole. That and hormone therapy is what set my volvodynia in motion. There are other good methods of birth control out there. I have used natural lamb condoms with great satisfaction... and he doesn't mind them either.

hello ladies,it has been a while since i have posted here, and usually when that happens, it's because all is well. and that is exactly how i have been.my stuggles with vulvadynia began in july 2007, and after a long battle, i finally found what worked for me, and that was dr goldstein and his estrogen/testostero ne gel, physical therapy, and getting out of a relationship that wasn't healthy. i have been low symptom/symptom free since august 2008, and there isn't a day that goes by that i don't appreciate my now pain-free life. wearing jeans, wearing thongs, pain-free sex - i never thought i would see the day. no wooman out there should give up hope, as success stories are everywhere.i was on a lo-dose estrogen birth control pill from july 2002 through oct 2007, and my gut feeling is that certainly had something to do with my case. unfortunately, i had a miscarriage in december 2008,

which was probably for the best since it wasn't planned and another accident where the condom failed which lead me to take plan b. so i am now at the point where i am considering getting on the pill, and i would love your feedback, experiences, opinions. i hope everyone is well, and i wish you all a pain free 2009.best,emma

I used 0.3% estrogen with 1% testoterone in cellulose gel for 8

months 2x a day, but I got a lot of relief within a week. I now use

it about 2X a week.

PT i did in New York City at Beyond Basics, with Roseanne. My

symptoms would flare like CRAZY when i was seeing a different

therapist, but I stuck to it with a Roseanne, and I would always feel

better longer and longer everytime I went. That in conjuction with

Valium was helpful. The PT was trigger point release, and skin

rolling, and streching my thigh muscles. They gave me a pelvic floor

device to use internally, but honestly, I couldn't use it. It hurt

me.

Also, I want to point out that in my case, finding a new hobby (and

boyfriend) helped take my focus off myself, and gave me something

else to research and learn about, and that helped me.

Emma, I'm glad to hear you are doing so well now, that truly is great. It's hard for me to give an answer about using the pill...(forewarning) - I'm biased! I hate the pill and will never use it again for myself. Without a doubt, I know it caused the vestibulodynia in me. When I saw Libby last April (vulvar specialist in NC), she said that 'some' women will get vulvar pain from using the pill. While I understand your predicament in not wanting to get pregnant, I don't think "I" would risk a set back with the vulvar pain, but in the end you have to make the decision that is right for you. For the record, I have two kids, and my hubby had a vasectomy when our youngest was one yr. old.I hope you find something that works! Take

well, i had a complete hyster in 1996 and the pain began in 2000 got worse in 2002 to the point of begging for help. ml and was NOT on the pill
