If the kidneys do not filter fast enough, oxalates can form crystals that develop into painful kidney stones. I found this article, but wonder why the kidneys don't filter fast enough??? Guest guest Posted January 6, 2009 Report Share Posted January 6, 2009 I suspect, if Dr. Fasano is correct and he probably is, too many oxalates never get to the bloodstream as they escape from the intestines through the " little holes " in the gut-- " leaky gut " , from damage caused by gluten induced autoimmune damage. Probably there are other causes of leaky gut (damage) like other food sensitivities such as milk sensitivity which is very similar to gluten sensitivity and does much the same thing to the body.
