A short time ago someone asked about the best schools. I did not save the

information as I never felt I would ever need it. Well, surprise, I do.

Someone asked me yesterday at our local chapter's symposium and I could not

recall those recommended. I thought of going to the archives but I have no

idea where to look as I believe the subject was not related to the

question; it was an add on. Any help appreciated.

Aliceanne

Speaking about symposium....Stedmans was there and we could order 2 books

and get one free. I won a terrific door prize....Dorlands newest

dictionary. I had invited my client's office manager who is just starting

out in MT (ing) and I will give her the last edition which is now going to

be replaced with my door prize.

They also had the HIPAA bags from Marsh and Green. They are not what I

would consider safe and in these bright neon colors. I got an order blank

so if you are interested let me know.

Thank you. I remembered Career Step and they were in our program and now I

remember the other two. I will pass these on.

Hi, Alicanne,

As I recall, the 3 schools whose names were mentioned most were s,

M-Tec, and Career Step. There were others, too, of course, but these are

the 3 that stick in my mind.

Hope this helps.

We must have had the same donations. They gave a box of reference books for

raffle at ours too. We had a problem last year with Stedman's not showing

and our president contacted them. They offered us the same deal they would

have offered if the representative had shown. Hopefully your president can

do that for you. Where is your local chapter? Ours was central NJ and

members from Queens, NY and Pa came for the credits.

Take care

Aliceanne!

I went to our local symposium yesterday too...my very first. :)

Congrats on the Dorland's! They had one on raffle at ours and I wanted

it SO bad I ended up putting 18 tickets in just for that. Someone else

won it but there were also a ton of free reference books that someone

had brought since she had updated everything and I ended up with 7 of

them including a very old ('93) Vera Pyle and '98 D & D Pharmaceutical

Words. I know they aren't the latest editions but for a beginner, it's

not a bad deal at all. Since I didn't win anything in the raffle, I

figure I got 7 new (to me) references for $15 and I'm happy about

that! :)

I was looking forward to Stedman's being at ours, but they weren't

there. :(

My chapter is the Pikes Peak Chapter in Colorado Springs, CO. My " local "

chapter (Denver) stabbed me in the back just once too often, so I joined the

other chapter. (Colorado Springs is about 60 miles south of Denver).

Selling used books has been one of our biggest money makers. We take our old

references to the meetings, etc. and sell them at deeply discounted prices -- I

think an old Taber's went for about $5, etc.

I would be interested in hearing what your chapters do for moneymaking. I know

Mile High (Denver) has the CEC form on diskette so you can enter it into your PC

(they have them for all formats). This form also automatically adds the

credits, etc. Last year they were very successful with selling zippered

portfolios with their logo on it.

My chapter, Pikes Peak, is looking for ideas. We are selling off our inventory

of sweatsuits (the official uniform of the home MT). Here in Colorado, we have

all sold the pins with our chapter logos on them -- but interest in petering out

for this.

Anyway, best get busy. Trying to clean my home office today and get it

organized for my new job with Transolutions. Sounds like a wonderful company.

I start my training on June 4.

Mine is the Tidewater chapter in VA. That's in the Norfolk, VA Beach,

and Newport News/Hampton/burg area. I think we might be

picking up 1 or 2 people from Northern VA also.

I might just email our president and see if Stedman's was supposed to

be there.

Actually, the reference books weren't part of the actual raffle. They

were just there as freebies for anyone who wanted them because another

member brought them in to pass on. I just decided that I could

consider the money I put into the raffle as paying for these instead

of thinking that I spent the money and got nothing. :) The lady who

won the Dorland's also won at least 2 other big prizes in the same

raffle.

Aliceanne,

I would be interested in the information on the HIPAA bags if you don't mind

sharing.

Wanted to prefix the information with some negative points. When I was told

about the habs I was told they were HIPPA compliant. When I saw them from a

distance they really did not appear to be so. There was no lock at

all. They were just listed on the site as courier bags. You might want to

go to their site to see what they have to offer:marchandgreen.com

Good luck.
