Guest guest
Hi: My iron is low also. I tried taking iron, but it upset my stomach. My daughter was anemic and took SlowFE which is over the counter. She could tolerate it fine, but I couldn't and stopped. I eat a lot of red meat.................it didn't help. Guest guest
Hi, I have off and on anemia. I take Carlson chelated iron, it's a chewable grape flavored. I buy it from vitacost. It doesn't upset my stomach or make me constapated. Make sure you don't take calcium around the time you take your iron. > > just wondering if any other vulvodynia sufferers can handle vitamens?? > > I used to take a multivitamen but after getting vulvodynia irealised > they made my problems worse. Guest guest
thankyou for your replies. From what you guys have said i guess it will be trail and error so i think ill just try the ones you have mentioned. Can i still take calcium?? just at a different time of day?? i am thinking about trying the low oxolate diet with calcium citrate also as i really want to try comeing off the amitrip. I am on 50mg which helps alot but i still find i have discomfort when i urinate so thinking it might help.
Guest guest
I am on amitrip as well - 25mg once a day (b4 bedtime) because it makes me so drowsy thats all i can handle. I have started the cal citrate supps as well and have noticed an improvement when I urinate. I also rinse with a splash of water after I pee. (I keep a water bottle next to the toilet) That has helped as well. I am also using the calendula cream/estrace concoction - I have not felt this great in years. I started doing these right before christmas. I have not tried intercourse yet - I;m going to wait a bit before trying that! Guest guest
i also use water and calendula cream which i found helps also. really want to try the calcim citrate as im always at my worst when i urinate so hoping this may be my main irritant. If i cant take them together with the iron though i better get that under control first. i am able to have intercourse most of the time now since i have been on the amnitrip(luckily i dont seem to suffer any side effects) but would not try without my lidocaine, this stuff is awsome, dont leave home without it lol although i have not yet had the chance to try it when i am having a bad flare(touch wood i will not have to). it is excellent stuff and you should talk to your doctor about it when you are ready to try as it perscription only, might just give you that extra confidence. Guest guest
ow - that is great you don't get any side effects from the amitrip. It knocks me out - I was a zombie walking around all day and it also effected my driving - I recall one of my past doctors mentioning Lidocaine to me but I have never tried it. Is it really great? I have a few questions: 1. Does it numb you so you can't feel a thing? (therefore defeating the purpose) also 2. Does is get on him so that he cannot feel anything? I remember my doc mentioning that. Guest guest
Yes you can take calcium at a different time of the day. I want to say though that it is a good idea to take a magnesium supplement whenever you take a calcium. I take magnesium citrate in a form that you mix with hot water and drink. > > thankyou for your replies. Guest guest
i use the 2% lidocaine and use at the back of my vestibule also some to my outer lips as they have a tendensy to get irritated and it numbs the pain but it doesnt take away the good sensations and my partner has never complained of going numb either. although i dont think i would try intercourse on a bad day but i use my lidocaine whenever i need to. ive heard of 5% lidocaine patches that i would like to keep on hand incase of a bad flare asthe gel only lasts an hour or so but aparently these patches can be worn like a pantyliner for up to 12 hours, just thought id share incase anyone else wanted to look into them. Thanks ill grab som magnesium as well but gonna take iron for a few days them add in calcium for a few days and the the mag just incase one of them starts making me hurt more hopefully ill be able to tell which one.
