Guest guest
My goodness, , how I can relate to you with what you described. I have had to claw my way through treatments and getting help. I have decided, though, that my health is one of the most important things in my life, and I will no longer let the doctors who are 'morons' hold me back. It makes you furious when they do NOT listen, but when they don't -- keep pushing and let the anger fuel you in a good way. Far too often I would allow myself to get really depressed. I don't care what they think anymore. I go with my gut! I begged my uro/gyn to allow me to try Estrace topically back in '04...then I begged him to let me try an estrogen patch. When he wouldn't go higher on the dose - I went to my primary doc and begged her. It's ridiculous what we go through! But you know what, everything I've asked for, or pushed for, has been right on target with helping my pain levels!I too have SI Joint dysfunction, and after yrs. and yrs of trying to find out what is wrong with me...I learned in December that I have a connective tissue disorder - which has led to hypermobility syndrome. Sounds like your Progesterone levels are much higher than your Estrogen before your period and that can cause PMS symptoms. I was like that, too. I honestly thought I had an allergy to Progesterone, but now I know it was simply my P. levels were high and my E. levels were low and that would up the bladder and vulvar pain. When P. levels are high it has a relaxing effect on the joints & ligaments -and will make the muscles work overtime trying to hold everything together. Good for you, that you are trying your best to get the answers you need. I went to an Endocrinologist in '07 and she looked at me and said, "what do you want me to do"? She knew nothing about female hormone levels. It was absurd! My primary doc is getting tired of dealing with my hormone issues, so I may have to find someone else. If I can't, then I plan to fly to one of Dr. Vliet's hormone clinics. It is a waste of precious time and money running to the docs who have NO clue how to help. The absolute best thing you can do when you 'know' something is up with your hormones, is to study and learn all you can. It's important to talk their lingo and let the docs know that you KNOW what you are talking about. If you go asking them for hormone help...and you don't know anything about them yourself...they will blow you off! Why docs don't have to learn about female hormones is beyond me!!! I also have PN, . Had I known all that I do now, I maybe could have avoided a lot of the pain and injury I've had. I feel like you, though, my boys mean the world to me and even though childbirth lead to injury -- I would do all over again in a heartbeat. I'm so glad you picked up Vliet's book! I love it! I think she is such a good advocate for women's health overall! I don't want to drive members nuts with mentioning her book so often, but it has helped me more than I can put into words. (Blueberri on the group) sent in a list of docs who use bio-identical hormones. You can check and see if there are any docs in your state on that list. If I can help you, just let me know! Guest guest
Tina & , thanks so much for your kind words! I spent years feeling alone and suffered constantly from vulvar pain back in the early 90's. I am so glad that women today have so much more info and that by being a part of groups like this...we can help one another. , your story really struck a chord with me, because in several ways, our pain is similar. Hang in there....Hugs, Chelle I fully agree with this post. Chelle is a great support to us!!! Thank you so much for your response Chelle.
