Guest guest
Hi im new here have been lurking and reading the post. my 5 year old son was just recently diagnosed with apraxia after 2 1/2 years of therapy. for the past year it has been changed from 3 times a week to 5 times a week with not alot of change. he got 3 days at the IU4 preschool and we took him to the hospital 2 times a week. the therapist recently changed at the hospital we were taking him to. the new speech pathologist was the one that diagnosed his apraxia. since the diagnoses we have noticed a slight change in him i think we are finally on the right track with him. also saw new doctor on the 15th of july at his 5 year check up and he also says its apraxia. the doctor gave me Hammers number and i called him. after 2 weeks i got a call from Hammer today and we decided to get him in for an official evaluation. Im really kind of nervous because Im actually afraid to hear yes your son is apraxic but its something i have been questioning for 2 1/2 years and kept being told no i dont think so... well usually apraxic children have other problems so i dont think so. when i talked to Hammer today he said that thats not true that alot of apraxic children are very bright and have no other problems besides speech. so just wanted to say hi i might be here for a long time.
