Guest guest
I am one of 's patients; and, while i love her personality and her open-minded multi-based approach to dealing with vulvar issues, after something she told me at my last visit, i honestly don't know if i'd want to use her as my sole hormone doctor. I have my estradiol and testosterone, both topical and systemic, prescribed by my thyroid specialist, who pretty much takes his lead from me asto what i do with sex hormone stuff. At my appointment with i mentioned in passing that my latest blood estradiol test result was in the high 200's and she got VERY upset, telling me that that was dangerously elevated and i needed to get it down pronto. When i asked her, out of curiosity, what levels she liked to see in her patients she said, between 40 and 70 (!). Considering that this was near the end of my appointment and i really didn't want to get into an argument about it, i let it go. But i have to say that i was shocked that she'd wantto keep levels this incredibly low, considering that, according to Vliet and others, like Reiss, estradiol levels need to be AT LEAST 80 to 90 pg/mL in order to provide all the important systemic benefits it provides to brain, bone, muscle, tissues, etc. etc. etc.Other people: do you have systemic estradiol rx'd by ? what has she told youabout ideal levels?HollisI know some people on here see Dr. Kellogg-Spadt in Philly. I wonder if she has any awareness of hormone issues????
Guest guest
Goodness, when are doctors gonna learn about female hormones? It's a shame! Dr. Vliet mentions how when the estradiol levels fall below 50 - 60 pg/ml you can have urinary symptoms. That was so me!!! One of my last Estradiol tests a few years ago had my estrogen at 39 pg/ml (first day of cycle). The range said anything below 31 was considered menopause. I was only 35 at the time. Oh well, Hollis. At least your thyroid doctor is working with you!
