Guest guest
then it's total, which isn't all that helpful for figuring out thyroid issues. try to get a free t3, free t4, and the two thyroid antibody tests. in answer to your question about Hashimoto'sthyroiditis: it's these antibody tests that determine whether you have antibodies to yourthyroid hormones and/or gland and, thus, Hashi's.HollisHollis it does not say Free just T4?? Guest guest
I think my question will always be, what is causing the antibodies and what kind of antibodies are they. What are we eating that produces them? They don't come from nowhere. Arline Hollis it does not say Free just T4?? Guest guest
Arline,I think that the multitude of endocrine disruptors we are constantly being exposed to -- somewithin our power to avoid, like those used in agribusiness (emphasis on business), and others, like mercury in the air, which is unavoidable -- have a lot to do with the explosion in thenumbers of auto-immune conditions, including Hashimoto's thyroiditis, that are now beingseen. I had extremely high thyroid antibody levels for a long time. Using dessicated thyroid(like Armour) didn't affect them, but switching to t3 only (Cytomel) has broughtthem way down. I have also heard that selenium, needed for proper thyroid metabolism, will lower antibodies. So, perhaps, a lack of proper levels of this mineral -- through malabsorption caused by leaking gut caused by gluten?? -- is responsible as well.HollisI think my question will always be, what is causing the anti bodies and what kind of antibodies are they.
