Guest guest
Amy, I am 10 days post RAI and have exactly the same thing! I mean exactly! I had very little problems with my salivary glands, but had real problems with numb-tongue and food tasting all the same. Biotene seems to help for me--but it took it quite a few days to work. I am told the sense of taste will return in another week or so and the numb tongue will eventually go away, as well. Think cancer was meant to teach us patience? I am sorry you had to do this twice! beth Post-RAI loss of taste/numb tongue? I am 8 days post-RAI (second dose) and have yet to regain most of my sense of taste. Also, my tongue is numb, and feels like I've had my mouth numbed for dental work permanently! Has this happened to anyone else? I did not have this problem the first time I had RAI! It is frustrating to eat and not really taste the food, and also to talk with the " numb tongue " feeling. The tissues in my mouth are white and seem to be dying off. I am using Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash (thanks to the posts I've read about that!) but it doesn't seem to help with this problem. Adding to this complication is the fact that I am a voice teacher, so it affects my work if I can't talk/sing correctly!! Any advice would be appreciated! Guest guest
Hi Amy, it took me about 3-4 weeks to get my taste back, I hated it and I used Listorine for my tounge and took acidopholis each day. That lasted about 1 week or so after RAI. Eva > I am 8 days post-RAI (second dose) and have yet to regain most of my > sense of taste.
