Is what a five year old told me about my son Sully (8 yo). See Tysen (the 5 yo)

has an Uncle that is Sully's age. Adam is in Sully's class and I thought that

they got along well until Tysen tells me that Adam was laughing about how

gullible Sully can be. :( Ok I know this is coming from a 5 y o but it still

hurts to hear it. What is Adam doing to my son anyway that would make him call

Sully gullible. And here I was thinking he integrated well with his peers.

Nothing like a reality check from a 5 yo. CHRIS

Are either one of them aware of what the word " gullible " means. I've had kids

tell me things and when asked what does " blah " mean, they tell you something

completely incorrect.

well I don't know if Tysen knows what that means but Adam does. So if Adam was

laughing about Sully being gullible he knew what he was saying even if Tysen did

not. I told Tysen that sometimes kids like to tease Sully by getting him to

believe things and th at wasn't very nice. Tysen is a good kid. Adam is a bit

of a handful he already has issues but just the fact t hat some kids see Sully

that was is upsetting to me.

Yeah I am going to email her right now expressing my concerns she is great

really and she did mention that she wanted to see that they get separated next

year. I think most kids so far accept Sully for who he is but their is always

someone. I know my kid is a little weird (and I mean that in a loving way) he

just acts a bit differently from his peers but he is kind and they like him for

t hat I hate thinking of one of his classmates taking advantage of him. Im

going to obsess about this now!

Do you have a good relationship with Sully's teacher? If this was , I'd

ask his teacher to watch and see what the other kids are doing to take

advantage of 'd literal mind and casting him as gullible. The recess

monitors, too. Can you do this?

How does a 5 yr old even know what gullible means??

I wish I could think of a way for you to find out what they are doing at

school. Maybe have the teacher keep an eye out for when the other child is

with Sulley?

well the 5 yo was just repeating what the 8 yo was saying so the point isn't so

much if the 5 yo knows w hat it means but more that the 8 year old said it and

he does know what it means.

Oh this is heartbreaking. I don't think most 5 year olds know

that word (I'm surprised an 8 y/o does) it's concerning that they know

it and they know how to use it appropriately. (unless they are

misapplying the word, doubtful) I think I would try to spy on this

situation somehow if I could. Does Adam come over to play? I think

some adult must have taught them this word and how to tease someone

and then say that the person is gullible.

What does Sully say about these boys?

Sully likes Adam Sully likes almost anyone I mean he is n ot social but he

always assumes the best of someone. I did email the teacher and told her that I

would like a watch be kept on the situation. Hopefully they will take me

seriously. Chris

Odd that a five year old would call someone gullible. Does the five year

old have older siblings who might have called him that and he is looking for

somewhere else to stick that particular label?

See the five year old is lives in the same house with eight yo Uncle. It was

the older boy who called Sully gullible Tysen was just repeated the story. I

did get in touch with the teacher and she has been having some concerns as well

about how Sully takes things and how Adam uses Sully
