Guest guest
Oatmeal is a good way to begin the day. I find that very filling. I would opt for another snack of fruit, apple, some grapes etc. That might be helpful if you are really hungry in your stomach. Comfort hungry is different. We have to train our bodies not to respond to that. An issue I face myself, comfort and social eating. hugs manda Kathleen Horacek wrote: > Today is really my second " serious " day of WW. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, Looks like we're sharing the same kind of day! I started out this morning (7 am) with oatmeal and banana also. I have already drank 32 oz of water and at 11 am I was STARVING - so I had an orange (to kill my sweet craving) and decidied to have tuna with mayo (I can't eat the low fat or fat free kind) on WW bread (I toasted it for extra crunchiness). I drank 6 oz of water before I ate it and another 6 oz while I was eating it. It worked. (so far) My points used so far: 14 - Oatmeal 2 Banana 2 Coffee w/ milk 2 Orange 1 2 slices WW bread 2 1 tsp Mayo 1 1/2 cup of tuna in water (drained) 3 I'm left with 8 points for the day and still have 30 flex points for the week. As of now, (12: 18 pm EST) I am not hungry. If I get hungry before dinner, I will nosh on some carrots (yeah boring) but at least I can save my points for dinner, which tonight will be Mexican Chicken (about 5 points) with a HUGE mixed green salad (0 points) Newman's FF Rasberry Dressing (1 tsp = 2pts). If I'm in the mood to make the FF / SF chocolate pudding pie, then that will be my dessert (8 slices per pie, 1 slice = 2pts) otherwsie I'll get my 94% FF popcorn and sprinkle it with Splenda to curb ny sweet tooth (5 cups =1 pt). The Mexican Chicken recipie was given to me by my leader and it's a simple and tasty dinner that my whole family loves. If you'r interested, let me know. Let's stick together on this - we can both get to our goal if we all help each other through - Hope it helps! -Debbie Suggestions please Today is really my second " serious " day of WW. Guest guest
Don't want to get a big head over here - I've been on this program since September and lost 10 lbs. I am not as structured as my previous post sounds. Yesterday was a great eating day for me and today, so far, is working out well so " Thank you " for the kind words. Keeping track and writing down is the ONLY thing that really works for me. " IF YOU SNACK IT - TRACK IT " it's so true.... I will post the Mexican Chicken recipie seperatly so it will be easy to spot. One other thing - I attend weekly meetings and my leader introduced a weekly food plan based on core. I'm counting it as points anyway (so I can learn the points system better) but I must say, knowing exactly waht I'm eating for the whole day has really helped me stay on track. I did my shopping for the week and had every item needed for every meal listed which has made it so much easier for me this week (so far...) And I'm not stressing on what to cook for dinner as much as I have been. My husband and teenage sons and won't eat my " exotic " dishes (if it ain't chicken cutlets and mashed potatoes, it's exotic) but that have been trying some new things that they were surprised to find out they liked - (Talapia? what the heck is talapia????)ha ha. Guest guest
Kathleen, I too was very hungry yesterday, but i wanted to start off the year right, so i was nervous about over snacking. water helps , but for me it gets old fast when i'm feeling hungry. i like to have a big hot cup of green tea with sweet 'n low. it helps calm down my hunger a bit while i decide if i'm actually hungry or if i'm bored, upset, etc, etc. plus, there are so many benefits to green tea, how could you go wrong?!?! it's good cold, too. i have one of those iced tea makers (i know, it sounds like one of those stupid gadgets you would never need, but it's great) and i love making different flavored green tea in them. On a side note, everyone, i was amazed to find out i had lost 2 pounds since i weighed in on the 27th. i think drinking a ton of water must have really helped, giving the way i went off program there for a little while. that means i lost 5.4 pounds over the two weeks of christmas and new years!! later, laura 252/220/
Guest guest
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I have made it so far and I'm doing well. I had the following so far: Oatmeal 2 pts banana 2 pts All Bran (snack) 2 pts Lunch: Taco Bell bean burrito (6 pts) 7 pretzel rods (2 pts) Total so far: 14 pts. On Friday we normally eat out so tonight I'm going to have a 's taco salad. With the chips it 13 pts. I think I'll tell them to not give me the chips and then it is only 8 pts. That allows me a few extra for some jello or yogurt for a snack later. I'm hanging in there but boy is it tough. I had a haircut today so that took up some time. I've been off on vacation and that makes it even harder not to just snack the day away. The Mexican chicken sounds excellent and I'll be sure to try that. My family is the same. They want meat and potatos and certainly don't want " diet " food as they call it. Kathleen

Guest guest
That's how I've calculated them as well. I think the WW book lists them as 8 points, but if you go to their website and read the nutritional data, they are actually 7 points. MMMM, I love taco bell -- maybe I'll go there for supper! Guest guest
Way to go . Hard to break old habits such as eating on a car trip. My time to eat is at night. For some reason always between about 7:00 and 9:30 i crave to over eat. So for me now must really plan what to eat in the evenings. Guest guest
I was hungry, too, for the first few days... but if you have some kind of snack- clemintines, zero point soup, etc... you'll begin to fill more full throughout the day... I also like the string cheese (low fat ones)... low point snacks, but some that would count towards my fruit/veggie or milk serving. Goins Suggestions please Today is really my second " serious " day of WW. I'm using the Flex Plan. I'm allowed 24 points per day along with my 35 " extra " points. Guest guest
Boy can I relate to that! I wish I could figure out what it is about log car rides that makes me get the munchies so bad. I have tried eating a good filling breakfast and bringing healthy snacks and bottled water but still I want snack on junk in the car. We did a four hour drive last week and I had oatmeal, an apple, and veggie sausages before we left and still I ended up with the munchies an hour into the drive. Ended up eating a stick of jerky and a small bag of sun chips o the way. My husband isn't a breakfast eater so he had to stop and get snacks at a convenience store. I should have waited in the car so I wouldn't be temped to buy junk food. I didn't do as bad as I would have done in the past though...no candy bars and chocolate milk or donuts at least. Guest guest
Kathleen, I've been on program for 6 weeks now, and I completely understand what you're talking about. I was okay the first day, but the next 4 days I was on program, I felt like I was starving to death. I think a lot of it was the whole " I'm starting a new diet " menatlity for me. Every time I've begun a weight loss program in the past, I always feel hungry, even when I'm not. I guarantee that things will get better, though. Once you get used to meals plans that work for you, you won't be hungry any more. Some things I like to do when I'm low on points and fell hungry are: 1. have some green beans or spinach (0 points) 2. have a small side salad (0 points) 3. have a cup of fat free or sugar free hot chocolate (1 point) 4. have a small york peppermint patty (1 point each up to 3 of them, more points each after that) 5. have one of those individual serving size no sugar added applesauces (1 point each) or the individual size peaches or mandarin oranges in lite syrup (1 to 2 points each, depending on brand) 6. have some carrot sticks (0 points) 7. You know those Knorr vegetable mixes? I make up a spinach dip with that using 1 cup FF mayo, 8 oz. of FF sour cream, and 1 box of frozen spinach (thawed and drained). The whole thing is 11 points, so I split it up into 6 small containers to have a 2 point snack at hand. It's great with the carrot sticks, and easy to just grab and go. 8. those snack size microwave popcorns are wonderful. the 94% FF kinds are only 2 points per bag just take some time to walk through your grocery store with your points finder and pick things up at random. You'll be surprised how many yummy treats aren't that bad! Moonday (the other ) > > Today is really my second " serious " day of WW. I'm using the Flex > Plan. Guest guest
, I always try to keep a few low point snacks in my purse to combat my natural tendancies (did I spell that right?) to grab a bean burrito or something when I'm out and about. Right now, I have a couple of the organic real fruit fruit roll ups that they have at Target, they are only one point each, and the Strawberry ones taste wonderful. I also have a couple of the Kashi peanut butter granola bars in there, 2 points each. Also, have you ever tried listening to an audiobook while driving? I am constantly in the car, and listening to an audiobook is a great way of keeping your mind occupied while not hindering your driving. I never even think about sncaking when I listen to my books! Guest guest
Kathleen, If I’m having an “I want to eat my arm” day, I do better if I get in more protein. I get filled up very well when I make a 3 egg-white omelet filled with a bunch of sautéed mushrooms. The omelets’ only 1 point. Pair that with a ’ Light English Muffin (1 pt) with a bit of SF Jelly and I’m set for a long time. Making up some zero point vegetable soup also helped a lot at the beginning while my body was adjusting to the lower calories. I could eat a bowl of that whenever I was starving and it would fill me up for a bit. Good luck! I think that the first month is the hardest time on WW. Once I get past that time it becomes habit and I can stick to it much easier.
