I can't tell you how awestruck this leaves me. I've totally defied

the odds that everyone who ever knew me laid against me.

I'm right there with you Jacquie. Mike is 38 and I'm (dare I say it?

I rarely confess) 37. We've been together since we were both 18. 18??

That's almost 20 years now! More than half our lives. My relatives

were making bets that we wouldn't last the first 5 years of marriage.

They were putting all their money on my cousin. Ha! She's 38 and is

on her 4th marriage. That's not counting the numerous men she's lived

with in-between the marriages. My sister is divorced, my sister-in-

law is divorced... the list goes on and on and on.

Doesn't it feel good to prove them all wrong? :D

Hey, having a working marriage IS a big deal anymore. I think it's

great you and he have the staying power. I don't think anyone should

stay in a bad marriage...the trick is finding the real deal,

surviving changes, compromise, and knowing who you really are. I've

always said love plays such a small role in the great scheme of

things.

By the way, your hubby was born on a great day. It's my birthday

too! I'll share my ides of march with him I guess (i'm only 31

today, so I guess it was really his first). Happy birthday!

And *I've* been with the same man since we were barely past children.

> No, no, not like you. In a MUCH more heartless fashion. Nobody ever believed

I would ever actually CARE enough about someone.

You, OTOH, care lots. :-) My family would've put their money on ya!

I think it's a great accomplishment.....this is coming from someone who has

been divorced before. Mark and I are nearing 14 years now and we married

after only knowing each other about 9 months!
