Guest guest
If you can get local channels, then I'd go for it. I'd have it if I could get my local channels on antenna, but we can't due to our location. Besides, Judge Judy is a mean old heartless bitch who just likes to belittle everyone and abuse her authority. Guest guest
With a satilite, you have to sign a contract agreeing to 12 months of service. If you have cable, you can cancel any old time. For that reason, we went with cable, cause our money situation varies from time to time and sometimes the cable has to go for a few months. I do know that you can order extra receivers for the satilite, so can have his cartoons and you can have your Judge Judy, but they do charge you for it. My advice, go with cable. Guest guest
If we choose satellite, I'll be watching frigging YuGiOh every day and I will never see Judge Judy again! (ACK!) I think that the satellite company will give you a number of television connections unlike the cable company. Then you can watch on a different television (and if you have only one television, you can pick another one up quite cheaply these days). No one in my family can agree what to watch so we have three cable connections. Salli

It would be out between a couple minutes to a couple hours... and my opinion with all those other channels you get with the dish, there isn't anything on them anyways...lol..and i would rather not deal with the satellite going out and jenna having a meltdown. So for the cost of the satellite plus $52 a month, we could get 200 network stations and three premium packages (including everything above) PLUS movie channels. > We have satellite but cable isn't an option in my area. It simply isn't available. Here's the thing with the 200 channels. With our package over 20 of those channels are music channels. No videos, just music rather like a radio without commercials. Over 20 of those channels I don't think should count because they're pay-per-view channels. Sure I can get the latest movies almost as soon as they leave the theaters but I have to pay for them. It's not a bad price, cheaper than renting a video in my area but since I'm paying $50 a month and hate over 1/2 the channels that are available I feel like they ought to be free. I can't get local channels on my satellite. Not sure if you can in your area or not. A friend from work can get local channels, it just depends on if the local channels allow that to happen. I'm not sure how that differs in Canada. The kids do have Disney east & west, Nick & Nick Toons, Cartoon network and one other..can't remember the name but it plays more educational shows, Sesame Street etc. No HBO, Cinemax, or Showtime. We have Starz which isn't bad but I can't watch shows like the Sopranos. I don't think it's worth $50 a month but then I rarely watch TV. : / Don't know if that helps any or not. Snow doesn't knock it out for some reason but it's almost spring and we're going to have to deal with 's meltdowns when it goes out in the middle of Dora the Explorer again. : / MAJOR problem for most of our kids. Guest guest
I have to say one of the best things about having cable on 2 tvs is being able to put the kids in one room watching Noggin and go into the other room and watch what *I* want to watch. Marc won't be home all day stuck watching Yu Gi Oh, now, will he? The extra channels etc. are all very nice but is it worth it if you never get to watch them? Of course, at the moment, Gabe is watching a movie in here and is watching Noggin in the bedroom. I've never had satelite TV so... -Sara. Guest guest
For $150 you can get a direct tv satelitte with Tivo DVR - - get it installed with two tuners and your machine can be watching one thing and recording another - - kids get cartoon network - - you get all the Judge Judy you can handle when they go to bed ... Now Tivo has it's own monthly fee attached, but there is an option for a one time lifetime subscription, which isn't badly priced. Here's the one we got: http://www.americansatellite.com/products/viewprod.asp?SID=62EZAG64725072UMK Y7KXBX558UT60Z61 & ITEM=761 Then I just called a local company to install, for like $25.
