Guest guest
You will probably get lots of responses from families with experiences with ADD. Try googling it for more information as well. Also you may want to consider trying pro-EFA since there have some reports of improved behavior...and my 4 year old (not apraxic) son (who is still sometimes a little high strung) really normalized his impulsive, disruptive and difficult to control/ poor attention span on omega 3/4/8 juniors. (He talks 3 chewable pills a day). Just a thought. - [ ] ADD To Whom It May Concern I have child, boy, age 6yrs and has started school. Guest guest
Is that a typo error 3/4/8 for juniors??? also I am giving my 7.5 year old daughter Nordic Naturals 3/6/9 ...2 capsuls twice a day... total 1 teaspoon (squeezing juice in her mouth) and now added DHA one teaspoon at lunch for her lack of concentration symptoms..I am hoping this is not overdoing it...No docs here in ville Fl that I have dealt with are going to assist me in this... Guest guest
Sorry - it is a typo - its 3/6/9 junior chewable capsule. My kids actually like them, so no squeezing in our house. That really doesn't sound like too much. Watch out for the pure DHA (cod liver oil?) - since we saw some very odd behavior (huge SI issues and obsessive/compulsive behavior around cleaning - that wasn't there prior to starting, and disappeared once we stoppled) on the CLO that did not return on pro-EFA, even when we increased the dose. Guest guest
> > Does anyone have any suggestions as to what foods/vitamin supplements help with ADD symptoms? At my house, No-Fenol enzyme, ALA chelation, mito cocktail, B12/folic, and anti-virals. Because you mention your child is lethargic, consider phenol intolerance. Most ADD children are made hyper by phenols, but the adult version [which some kids have also] causes lethargy and chronic fatigue. http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm >>I tried spinach and it seems to help but then I read that there can be an opoid effect to spinach too! There can be an opiod effect from any food, but if you noticed improvement, then your child does not have the opiod effect and actually needs that food. Definitely add it back. Guest guest
Thank you for explaining why spinach seemed to have such a remarkable affect on his 'tuning-in' to his environment. I will try to put it into his diet more often. Do you think that I should begin supplementing folate? Can we find 'spinach pills' so that he doesn't need to eat it daily to get the same affect? I remember the old cartoon Popeye who loved spinach and it made him strong... perhaps there was more wisdom in that then I realized! Guest guest
Thank you for all of your wonderful responses. Such a wealth of information from some wonderful moms! Note: we went to the dentist yesterday to check the filling. It is plastic and not the 'metal amalgam'. In addition, the orthodontist wants to put braces on my son some time this fall. Right now, he wears a mouthplate to correct an overbite. Can he still be chelated with all of this stuff in his mouth? We have come such a long way without chelating (up the SPD pathway from severe dyspraxia to ADD) but it is becoming apparent that his gut will not seem to get healed without it. Not exactly sure what to do... Janice > > > > > > Does anyone have any suggestions as to what foods/vitamin > > supplements help with ADD symptoms?
