Metabolism is the rate at which your body converts the foods you eat into energy for your body.If you have a fast metabolism,more of the foods you eat will get burned up as energy and less will stored as fat.If you have a slow metabolism,less of the food you eat gets burned for fuel and more gets stored as fat. One of the most significant causes of a slow metabolism is a reduce calorie or " starvation " diet.That is why nearly every single person who goes on a diet eventually fails and gains back all the weight they have lost and usually more. When you go on a reduce calorie diet your body doesn't know that your dieting.It thinks you're starving to death.it say ti itself " I don't know when I will eat again,so I'd better store al the food I eat,instead of burning it as fuel,so I won't die of starvation.There is ONLY one way your body can store food for later it as FAT.SO EVEN IF YOU ARE EATING LESS FOOD,YOUR BODY STORES MORE OF IT AS FAT. That means ,even though you are eating less,you may still gain weight.and the bigger problem is this,when you go off the diet which you will do because you can't starve yourself forever your metabolism will be so slow that eating " regular " food again will cause you to gan not only the weight you lost on the diet but more ! The other thing that happens when you go on a conventional diet is that your body starts to shed lean muscle tissue.Thats bad if you are trying to lose weight because muscle tissue is the only thing that burns calories in your body.The more lean muscle tissue you have the more calories you burn all day long.Conversely,if you go on a low calorie diet and start to lose muscle tissue,you lose the WAR of FAT.
