Guest guest
What Is Your Business Like? We had a great topic today: What is your business like? Our leader likened doing WW to opening/running a business. Here are five important elements: 1. Mission Statement--Every company/business needs to have a vision, goals, and the outcomes it wants to accomplish? What specifically do you want to accomplish? Make your goal clear and specific. Instead of just " I want to lose weight, " think about specifically why: " I want to lose 30 lbs. so that I can play easier with my children and get off cholesterol medicine. " 2. Current Market Conditions--You have to be aware of the environment in which you're trying to run your business. What is the climate like in which you're trying to lose weight? What's around you at home, work, and other places? What can you do to make it more conducive to your weight loss goals? One member shared throwing away all holiday remnants and stocking her refrigerator with healthy snacks. Another shared staying away from the kitchen at work where there are always treats. 3. Investment in the Company--What are the resources you need to make the business a success? What are you willing to invest to make it happen? Are the costs worth it to you? Our leader said you have to want it so bad you can taste it, because there will be many costs. Costs aren't just financial--they can be time, comfort, convenience, etc. 4. Strategic Planning--The infamous saying: " If you fail to plan, you plan to fail " rings true here. A company has to do short and long-term planning in order to be successful. You have to know what to do when the economy takes a down turn or when sales are down. The same goes for weight loss. What do you do in different situations that present challenges? How can you plan to be successful in difficult situations or with a busy life? How can you plan to be successful over the long haul? 5. Annual Report--This last element is important for a company to present how they did this year, in comparison to last year. What is different this year for you? What are your accomplishments from last year? Did you profit from your weight loss? What can you do this year to either continue that success or make it more successful than last year? Our leader ended by emphasizing the point of the time is going to pass anyway. This year will go by anyway, whether you do WW or not, whether you make healthy lifestyle changes or not. Where do you want to be a year from now?
