Hi, I've been kind of quiet on this group but now I do have a

question for all you knowledable people!

What is the best place to turn to when you just can't identify a

drug in a dictation? I can kind of understand it but not well enough

to locate it.

It sounds like, " coidalacathyapran " , I think.

It's in regard to ulcerative colitis. " The patient was given IV

fluids as well as coidalacathyapran...

I'm about to pull my hair out looking for this word!!

Thanks for any help you can give me

Tammy

I use rxlist.com on a regular basis. Usually if I type in what it sounds

like I get a list of suggested drugs to point me in the right direction :)

---HI, thank you I'll try it. I thought a fuzzy search worked

better but I'll do the wild card!

I did some digging and I think what you might be hearing is trial of

Salazopyrin (generic is salicylazosulfapyridine) per Quick Look Electronic.

It's also possible the doc is " murdering " the generic pronunciation. :)

I can't help but hear " colloidal " as the first part. What if you try looking

it up without the first 2 or 3 syllables?

Very possible. Could it be a colloidal mineral?

Lynn, you make me wonder if it's a drug at all....or maybe just

another treatment in addition to IV fluids. What do you think?
