Guest guest
This forum is to discuss the positive and the negative of alternative therapies. It is not to " rip people apart " . It seems as if there is a lot of behavior that is inappropriate. All a entitled to their viewpoints and their information to other to help. All have the choice to follow or not, it is called agency. There is no room for " cat fights " . Lets all help one one another the best we can. What works for one, may not for another, but that does not meat it is wrong. Read it and go on. sheri vance

Guest guest
Wow!!! Thank You for the post! What a lot to think about! I'll try to answer your questions. Ian is eight, in the second grade and is being homeschooled. We live in North Idaho 13 miles away from Moscow Idaho. He is talking and can carry on a back and forth conversation but is still slightly delayed. He was placed in developmental school for preschool and kindergarten in classes specifically for language delays with children with like delays. This was in Seattle where my daughter lives. He was placed in a public school in first grade with children with like delays also. They tried to integrate him into a regular first grade but that didn't work out. he is no longer on medication and his behavior has improved greatly. His pediatrition in Seattle was the on who prescribed the " Concerta " . His one and only evaluation (at age 3 1/2) was done at the University of Idaho's special needs program (I'm not sure of the specific title). He was evaulated as language delayed and was given a recommend for assistance. My daughter and her husband then moved to Seattle. The programs for preschool and kindergarten were a great help to him but the first grade in regular public school was a disaster. The reason that I'm homeschooling Ian is that he would be placed in Special Ed. and tagged as retarded and although he is speech delayed his intelligence is average if not above. I believe that the school system considered that he wasn't capable of learning at grade level so he got a LOT of help to the point that he was seriously behind. He now reads at grade level and loves books. He is coming up to grade level in other subjects as well. I know that there are many questions that I haven't address but I'll have to go back to you post and reread them. At this point let me tell you what Ian is like. Ian has been able to put puzzles together and do mazes that were for children much older then him. He has always loved to be read to and has had a love of dinosaurs. At the age of two he would get my paleontology books and insist that I read them to him (by pointing at the book). I would only read the name and a little about each one. He was able to recognize and to say the name of dinosaurs by three but he wasn't talking otherwise. He could recognize and say Heterodontosaurus but he couldn't tell me that he wanted a cookie except to take me by the hand and point. And yes he got REALLY frustrated when I didn't understand him and had MEGA tantrums. When he didn't like something EVERYONE new it. Now he does talk and can tell me when he doesn't like something. His memory for certain things is beyond belief. We have music appreciation in school. We are listening to the classics now and he has said " Oh that was in.... " and he'll name the movie or cartoon. He's also a wiz in the computer and is waiting patiently to use it. I know there is a lot if left out. I hope to post again and address the other questions. I have never heard of Alkohol. I'm currently using Nasacort when I have to. Let me know how people react to your mask. Hey Sib...I ended up not wearing the mask...I was traveling with 2 dogs and a cat (I was moving) so by the time I remembered the mask it was too late. But I still have plans to wear them in the future, so I'll let you know. However, the alkalol/ocean spray blend REALLY helped...for the first time in 6 months, I flew and didn't get sick. I'm on Remicade, and was very run down due to the move, so the conditions were perfect for me to get sick. I didn't. At the first sign of any congestion since, I've used it as a nasal spray and things have been fine. It turns out the alkalol is also homeopathic...it's mainly camphor and eucalyptus with other herbs. Mixed with salt water, it's a great, inexpensive way to stay healthy. My primary care doctor explained that it is a mucus buster. You do have to have the pharmacy special order the alkalol...it's something that is perceived as an " older " product and isn't stocked regularly. It's OTC and it cost me 3.69. Not bad. I mixed it 50/50 with Ocean Spray, which is essentially salt water. It's been a long time since something so simple helped me so much!
