Guest guest
Just for your info, if your child is on any sulphur drugs, like zonegran, Im not sure if depakote is a sulphur drug, you should not take grapefruit extract, or grapefruit juice, or grapefruit because it cancels out the meds. I would proceed with caution with the grapefruit extract. Hope this helps. Michele
Guest guest
Wow! You are both a wealth of information! Thank you. Yes, it is a long course with Bactrim. She gets it 3 days on and 4 days off. I hate it, but I would really hate for her get an opportunistic virus from her Prednisone induced lowered immunity. I will look into Grapefruit seed. She is on Depakote and the literature warns away from grapefruit in general. Maybe the seed is different. (I hope!) I need to print off these messages so I can follow-up with the recommendations. Again, Thank you! (Phoebe's Mom)
Guest guest
- Do you mind my asking why Phoebe is on the long course of prednisone? My son also has seizures (takes Keppra) and I have noticed from time to time that when he has had to take prednisone for croup, it seemed as though he had improvements in his speech. Are you treating something in particular with the steroids? > > Wow! You are both a wealth of information! Thank you. > > Yes, it is a long course with Bactrim.
