Sorry guys, I am at a remote location without my references. I also can't

figure out a successful search online.

Doc dictates p.o. " q day " . Isn't it once per day and how should it be written?

TIA,

Ramona

S/he is mixing Latin (q.d.) with English (every day). BOS lists " q.d. " as a

dangerous abbreviation and says to change it to " daily " or " every day " (p.

463, 2nd ed.).

And then there are employers who insist on q. day when dictated: I was

typing q. day as every day or daily, and QA slapped my hands. I was told

" that's not what he dictated -- type what he dictated. "

Re: q day

Some employers will accept q day, but it's really not a legal abbrevation

because it mixes Latin and English. I'd say either q.d. or every day :)

Not every employer is agreeing with the BOS on this -- the BOS stand on it

was why I was typing daily or every day when q.d. was dictated, and once

again I was told to type what was dictated. I cited the BOS, of course, but

to no avail.

And I was told the exact opposite. " we don't ever use q. day...... use

daily " lol

Oh, I wince -- over that and lots of other things! :-)

Re: q day

That's why I said some employers accept it .. hence my sig line.. whoever

signs the paycheck... :) But if I were forced to type it that way, I'd

wince

every time I did it.

I save most of my cuss words for the terrible dictators -- and I confess I

shout a variety of names at them -- but the eye rolling, sighing, and

wincing are usually dedicated to all the rules with which I don't agree.

Re: q day

I know what you mean.. there's usually some eyerolling going on here, and

sometimes even some cussing :)
