Can anyone help me in deciding where I should get my medical

transcriptionist training? I have been looking into M-Tec, but I am

nervous about spending the money. Any advice would be greatly

appreciated.

I finished the MTEC course two years ago. It was well worth the money.

You not only learn the terminology but the rules of transcribing,

anatomy, diseases, etc. And the instructors are very supportive and easy

to reach via e-mail or phone. There is also a student board on which to

post questions, problems, etc. I am working for MQ, who only agreed to

let me test for them after I said I had finished the MTEC course.

HTH!

Almost two years, but I had some extensions because of extenuating

circumstances. You can do it a lot sooner than that.

How long did it take you to complete your training?

For me, it was approximately 900 real-time hours (about 1 year in my case).

....not counting the time I spent here and learning! ;)

M-TEC is one of the very best MT courses around. They are well worth

the money. I've known people who were still in the middle of the course

who were asked to call for a job as soon as they graduate...just because

they were taking the M-TEC course. I also know of people who passed

the AAMT tests within a couple of months of graduating from M-TEC.

Both of those situations are remarkable for brand new MTs. There are

other great courses out there, the first that comes to mind is Career Step.

I'm not sure of their fee, but I do know they turn out good entry level MTs.

Until next time....

Wow, I'm impressed! It has taken me 20+ months.

Life has gotten in the way on more than one occasion, on top of being

grammatically challenged! lol
