Guest guest
Correction !!! Yes I am seeing changes. The EFA/EPA combination has helped make great changes in speech clarity and sentence length in the past 2 months, but he had plateaued (sp?) I'm not sure if I'm seeing any additional change with Vitamin E, but I felt this natural E supplement was good because of the selenium and ala. I am considering having him take 1 in AM and 1 in PM. It seems that he needs to have higher doses of supplements at first -- and then his body's reservoirs are filled and I can level off. That has been true of the magnesium for constipation -- we are at half the level (300-500mg now) that we were at in July. > > I've had my son on 400 IU Vit E for 2 days in addition to 2 ProEPA and > 2 3-6-9 and haven't seen any change -- yet. > > Pioneer Super E+ > Vit E d-alpha tocopherol 400IU > Selenium 50mcg > D-gamma tocopherol 82mg > D-delta tocopherol 34.8 > D-beta tocopherol 1.8 > Phosphatidyl choline 101.5 > Alpha-lipoic acid 25mg >
Guest guest
Hi I read your post on the Vit E. I think my son too needs the higher doses of EFAs and possibly the E.. but my question was about the magnesium for constipation. As many others, I experience constipation with my son. What brand and how much are you using for magnesium for the constipation. Is it with calcium and/or zinc??? Thanks, Phyllis and Nicolas. Guest guest
You may be surprised the adding omega 3 will help fix the constipation. > Hi I read your post on the Vit E. Guest guest
I vary the magnesium -- on purpose. We rotate between Natures Sunshine Magnesium oxide -- 250mg tablet, Kirkman magnesium citrate powder, and a chewable (large) tablet that's calcium/magnesium - Country Life Brand. I see that Nature's Sunshine has a new one http://www.theherbsplace.com/Magnesium_Complex_p_510.html I just ordered this one too http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Calcium-Citrate As you can see -- it's trial and error! I have found that strong flavored juices hide it the best -- berry, grape, etc. Mixed in applesauce works too. I used to put 1/4 tsp vit c and 1/4 tsp mg citrate (kirkman) in about 2 oz of juice every morning. He tired of it and got resistant. I haven't been able to get as much vit c in him lately. The combination is the best -- vit c loosens things up too. I've read that cod liver oil depletes magnesium -- but I don't know why. I have varied the way we get EFAs in him -- he now swallows the HUGE Ultimate Omega, 3-6-9 etc. -- so life is getting better. He swalled the magnesium tablet this AM too -- woohoo! My suggestion is not to bother with the Calm brand of magnesium -icky taste. The standard recommendation is a 3-1 or 2-1 ratio of calcium to magnesium. I don't do that -- it's about 1-1 -- he now averages about 500 mg of calcium and magnesium per day. He also gets some digestive enzymes and probiotics. I have heard quite a few people rave about Oxy-Powder, but I was reluctant to buy it until he mastered swallowing capsules. It might be time to try it. My son has to have something or he will get constipated -- but it's getting better every day! P.S. - Prunes, flax, pears, oranges, water, steel cut oats, etc -- they all help. Hope this helps! Feel free to email or post more questions. I am so relieved to have my son off of Miralax and talking -- with some expressive language -- I will do whatever I can to pass on whatever knowledge I have gained. Thank you to all on this board -- and the board. > > Hi I read your post on the Vit E.
