Hi ,

I hope that you don't mind me jumping in here......After my ep I was pissed

there is no other words to describe my feelings because I had been having

pains on my rt. side and I called my dr's office at the time and told them

that I thought I had the symptoms of an ep and the receptionist put me on

hold talked to the dr and told me that he thought it was some gas pains

because the pains stopped. One week to the day when I called when I would

have been going for my first check up and to hear my baby's heartbeat my tube

ruptured. Not only did I have to absorb the loss of my baby, but of my tube

as well. It was a bleak time because I know that had my dr checked me out

when I first voiced my concerns of an ep maybe my tube could have been saved.

I know it is hard to accept that you have lost a part of your reproductive

system but just look at all the woman here that are pg with healthy babies

right where their supposed to be and they all got pg by that one tube. So

that is all we need--one tube. Although I know right now your hurting but it

will get better I promise. Please take care.

I don't blame you for being upset. Dr.s really need to learn to listen to the

patient more. I am sorry you had to go through that. M

HI .

Yes all the information I am receiving on this group is helping me, but I

still have alot of psychological things to deal with. I am the only one that

can deal with them, unfortunately I am the only one who can deal with this

right now. It is very hard to discuss losing my right tube. I am still so

upset that the ER did not detect it. I feel like I am living someone else's

life, almost like a soap opera, I want to change the channel and have my

tube back!!!!

I know that feeling.... if only....but we were dealt this hand for a reason

and I know that we can handle it. I personally feel it takes longer to heal

emotionally than physically. I know it did for me.

Hi ,

I was reading your post to about how you ovulate late and that your

pregnancy tests were negative. The same thing happens to me because I

ovulate so late in the month it takes a while before the home pregnancy

tests detects it.. Your dr. will probably suggest clomid to you too..

Well I am not healed physically, My internal stitches are still hurting me.

When is this pain going to end. It has been almost 4 weeks now. It was

feeling great then all of a sudden I am in pain again. My dr told me to

start walking, so I have, now I feel as if I aged overnight. I am out of

breathe, and out of shape. This group is helping me, I live in a very rural

area and there is nooo one to talk to other than my husband. So it is nice

to talk to ladies to have gone thru this horrible experience.

melissa,

I am sorry you are still feeling bad physically. It took me longer than 4

weeks to feel better too. My stitched got infected...

I am praying that you feel better.

It will take some time to heal phsically too. I know, I too fet so old and out

of shape. I would take my dog outside and just wanted to come back inside, I

just felt so tired. Take it easy. I am glad this group is helping you some, I

know it is so hard when you have no one who really understands your feelings.

Hi ,

I thought I should shre my after surgery experience with you because

it might be helpful. I had my surgery on 7/26/00 and I was in so

much pain afterwards, more so than when my tube ruptured. We had

planned our summer vacation in Feb. and it was going to be a family

reunion (my family) in Vegas. This was scheduled for August 4th. My

dr said I could still go if I took it easy. I felt fine by 8/4 and

since the tickets were unrefundable we went. The first night I

walked the strip with the rest of the gang and felt very little pain.

In fact, I went on the Big Shot, a ride 85 stories up that shoots up

an additional 150 ft and then drops you. GREAT RIDE, but not if you

just had surgery. The next day I could barely walk. We had to limit

what we could do because of the pulling in my stomach and downed so

many pain killers that week. In fact one night the rented a

wheelchair so I wouldn't miss out. Anyway, it took me a couple of

days more to recover when I got back. I probally acted irresponsibly

by doing all I did in Vegas, but my vacation was not only important

to me but my father, who at 65, finally got to see the Grand Canyon

with his family. It was worth the discomfort to make my father and

the rest of the family happy and besides, I had a great time.

I hope the pain ebds for you soon. I was told three weeks tops,

but I have a high tolerance for pain because I walked through NY the

weekend before my surgery (I started to bleed 4 week earlier due to

rupture). More thoughts are with you and please forgive me for my

ramblings. I tend to get carried away. Take care.

Believe me I paid for it afterwards. I didn't want the surgery to

ruin my or anyone else's vacation. I regretted at the time, but I

have wonderful memories of the trip. If you ever get to Vegas and are

not afraid of heights, I suggest the Stratosphere ride Big Shot.

Great Thrill Ride!!!

Karyn,

Just to let you know it took about six weeks for my levels to return to zero

and I also had the metho shot. It varies for everyone. Hang in there. It

is almost three months since my ep and metho shot. I still get very minor

pain on the left side.

Thanks,

Wen

Hi Karyn,

I am so sorry to hear all your going through right now with your ep and I

know how scared you must be. I didn't have the metho because when they found

out I had an ep it was when I was brought into the ER with excrutiating pain

but there are some here that did have metho so they should be able to help

you some. Saying lots of prayers for you that the metho works and you don't

experience a rupture. Please take care. (((((((HUGS))))))

Karyn,

I am so sorry. Every story I hear about ep I get mad

because it's the same story with Dr's and pain and

hospitals etc...

I had the methatrexate shot, my pregnancy was

diagnosed very early and my HCG levels were monitered

closely so that when funny stuff happened( spotting )

they caught it right away. All of my US showed nothing

but a large cyst on an ovary. Your pain that you had

could have been from the cyst they can be very painful

and they truly could have caught the ep before it

ruptured- it may not have even been in the tube- they

neve classified that mine was- they think it was by an

ovary or outside the uterus.

I had a bad experience with the shot, just a lot of

pain and bleeding. Make sure you go back to your Dr do

they can monitor the HCG levels they should be back

doen to 0 within 4 weeks. I always wondered too if I

had already lost the baby before the shot since I had

been spotting off and on for a week- or ( horror) if

they were wrong about everything and my baby was truly

fine.

Hi everyone

I have found this site and found it very helpful in my days since I returned

from the hospital. I am ready to share my story in hopes that there is

someone who shares my similar situation and can enlighten me further in what

I should expect.

Last week I was having somewhat severe cramping but thinking my period was

coming in several days I just thought I was having a bad one. Well the next

day I got my period and the pain continued- it just didn't seem like normal

pain so my husband took me to the urgent care. After examining me and asking

me questions the doctor asked if I could be pregnant and I said well we are

trying but I had a period last month and it appears this month. Well they

took a test and it came out postive. He told me I needed to talk to my OB.

When I got home I called the doctor the soonest they could get me in was

Monday( it was Tuesday when this all started) they said it could be just pain

from implantation. I have a 3 year old daughter and I did not feel any of

this before. I paged the doctor and told her I was concerned and the nurse

practioner said they would try and get me in for an ultrasound the next day

to make sure everything was implanted in the right spot. She called the next

day and told me I need to go get blood work done asap and my ultrasound was

scheduled for 8:00 that night. By this time my pain had pretty much gone

away so in my mind at this point Im thinking I miscarried. So we did the

ultrasound that night and my blood work had come back over 2000 hsg which

meant I was over 6 weeks pregnant which would mean the period I had last

month really wasn't a period. Well they did a vaginal ultrasound and

couldn't find anything in the uterus but did find a rather large cyst on my

ovary and a mass next to the ovary which they believed was the ep in the

tube. They admitted me that night but im still not in pain. My doctor came

in the next day and said that everyone believes i have an ep and because they

caught it early and it had not ruptured( which I don't know how they knew it

wasn't ruptured for sure) they could give me methotrexate. She barely

explained anything to me and i had never even known anyone who had an ep.

She said that my hsg level had gone down(even before the injection)- so does

that mean my pregnancy had ended itself? I came home on Friday- the doctor

didn't not even come see me that day. I had all sorts of questions but of

course you know Im not the only patient.

That day I searched for any kind of information and luckily found this site.

I went and did blood work on Monday and tomorrow I see the doctor. There

isn't much info on metho. I have not been in any pain except on Sunday I had

bad cramping. From what it sounds like most people need multiple doses and

then sometimes you still end up rupturing- i am scared to death. Well thanks

for listening and am hoping that tomorrow the doctor will have time for me

and calm me and explain to me in more detail what is going on with my body.

Thanks Karyn

Karyn,

I'm sooooo sorry to hear what you are going through. It is all a very scary,

traumatizing thing to experience. I do not have an experience with the meth

treatment- with me they found internal bleeding in the 3rd ultrasound and I had

to have surgery immediately (laparascopy). Luckily (maybe luckily- I'm not sure

yet...), they were able to remove the ep and salvage my tube. I'm hoping my

tube heals up and leaves no scar tissue, but you never know. I guess I had

started to rupture, but it hadn't harmed my tube yet...Just remember we are here

for you when you have questions or just need to vent. I hope others that have

had experience w/ meth can help you with what you should expect, etc. I'll be

thinking of you!!

Karyn,

I am so sorry for your loss. You are in the right place though. You will

not find another group of women who are so supportive, understanding, loving

and informative as this bunch.

I lost my right tube with my ep , so I had the surgery. I do not know much

about methotrexate but there are lots of women here who do. I think as long

as your dr is watching your beta levels, you should be ok.

share whatever you need to here.

Thank

My numbers did go up but then on the 7th day they went down but not to what

she wanted them to so i had to have another shot last night and then im going

to have another shot on Friday. Im basically trusting she knows what she is

doing. I want to switch doctors but i know its not practical until i resolve

this whole ep. she does not

tell me anything and has no time for my questions. She is not who delivered

my first child- we have moved since and i have found this one and

unfortunatley am not happy. There is nothing worse than feeling lost. Bye

for now.
