Guest guest
omega 3/6/9 is the same as pro-EFA - just cheaper. Start with 1/2 teaspoon a day. 1 capsule has 1/4 tsp. Hope you see some good things! [ ] Nordic Naturals: Pro EFA VS Omega 3.6.9 Hello - decided to start supplementation on my son, not going to wait for formal diagnosis (which could be a year away!).... so I trotted over to the healthfood store today. Couldn't find the " Pro EFA " but did find Nordic Naturals Omega 3.6.9 in caps, liquid and junior strength. Does anyone know the difference between the Pro and Omega. Is it just packaging? According to Nordic's website the caps all have the same levels of DHA, etc. Also - I noted that the liquid has much higher levels per dose.... so how is everyone dosing? I see lots of posts as to 1 cap, two caps or tsp dosing - but no clarfication as to which product. Maybe this is just the nurse in me talking but I want to get this right - also think I will have a hard time getting anything down the hatch on my son. I want to use the least amount possible but still get him what he needs to start. Thanks for any advice. Martha McCabe
Guest guest
There are two issues...getting it down the hatch,as you said, and the issue of keeping it fresh. The former is much easier if the latter is paid attention to. Some people find that the capsules stay fresh longer because you can just puncture them and squirt them into the children's mouths, and before that they have no exposure to oxygen and hence do not become rancid. You need to be very very careful if you are giving the oil to keep it refrigerated with the top closed tight. Warning: one experience with rancid oil can make it very difficult to give these in the future! Peace, Kathy E.
