Moments like these should be made into autistic hallmark cards :)

my son kenneth makes me cry all the time, he's only 4 and he

says " mommy, you're tired, i can tell in your eyes. you want me to

go to sleep with you? " it makes me cry. it's awesome when your

child develops empathy skills. I just hope someday will have

empathy skills and be aware of another's existance like is doing

now. jacquie, you must be so proud of him. major major milestones!

cool! kris

Asunto: the annoying behaviour is WORTH IT.

These are small, but very big:

Tonight I made and I homemade shoestring fries for dinner. HE ATE

THEM, even though he's never seen them before. " I didn't know you can

MAKE french fries from potatoes " he said. LOL

When I was finished, I said, " You know, I'm still hungry! " A few

moments later he handed me four french fries. Of course I figured they

were defective in some way, so I just held them on my palm for a minute,

waiting for the explanation. " You can eat those fries, " he said, " if

you're hungry. " I wonder if this makes mothers burst into tears in NT

homes?

Some time later, I streched my foot out under the table and made an 'in

pain' noise. " What's wrong with your foot? " he asked.

I can't believe this!!!!!

I AM proud of him, but I'm on such a rollercoaster right now because every

leap forward is always accompanied by a giant step backward in another area.

that's been the pattern all along. So while I am constantly on the verge of

joyful tears, I am also constantly on the verge of annoyed and frustrated

tears as well. Flip-flopping back and forth.

I am elated at the progress he's making, but I will be glad when it stops

and he evens out and we can go back to having normal and predictable days.
