I just want to thanks EVERYONE who signed up for the Christmas Card

exchange, we have got so many cards and pictures with all of them. I

hung them all on the wall by Eva's crib. When Christmas is over I will

be putting them all in a book for her to keep forever. I have gotten

more cards from my groups then I have from people we know, I sent out

about 100 cards this year with letters of how our year has gone. I

just wanted to say thank you and I feel so blessed to have found ALL

of you!!

I, too, truly appreciate the cards but also feel so guilty for not having

mailed ours. I'd planned to do so this weekend, but got sick early

Friday - well, you know how that goes. I hadn't realized, stupidly, that we

should send photos and spent last night after was in bed finding

good ones. She goes back to her house tomorrow, so cards may be late,

but they're coming. Martha --- who seems to always be late. I think it's the

Perkins' influence!

martha- why would you be behind this time of year?!? I feel like I always am 10

steps behind where I should be. I've cut down on the inside decorating this

year--just no time and then have to take it down in 2 weeks--have the tree up

and little tree above the entertainment center and little buildings stockings

are on the railing usually I do garland & lights too, but I need to get other

stuff doen first--there is always next year. don't worry about the cards--new

years cards are nice too!

We've really enjoyed receiving ours, too! I think we may be missing some--we've

only received 8 or 9, I think--but that's probably because I signed up late and

some people may have not seen our name on the last list that came out. (See,

Martha and , you're not the only ones who are late! Of course, we visited

Perkins this past summer, so perhaps we caught the " bug " you mention from there,

too! Hmm...) That's OK--I've enjoyed sending them as much as I have receiving

them. And that will teach me to be a little more prompt about signing up next

year! :-)

We love all of the ones we've received as well, they're all posted up in our

main hallway! I love all the pictures. We probably got nine or ten as

well. I think I sent out about at least 20. I'm hoping to get a lot this

week - with lots of pictures!

such a rousing success--perhaps next year!!!

Pam,

I guess you were out of this particular loop during 's Perkins'

years. It was the subject of much good natured kidding. Meetings, etc.

always started late! Someone once commented that if a conference call

was scheduled for 10:00, we should plan on 10:15 or so. It's not a knock

at ya'll at all; rather, it's a quite lovely experience that we've carried with

us.

Don't fret!

Pam and all,

i just can't let this go, and it's after midnight. Pam, it's who's

sick

(or weepy or waiting for the damn Provera to start her period). No one is

seriously " blaming " Perkins for anything; I get the feeling that you worry

about that. But, ya'll DO tend to be late for things. Said with endless love

and a huge grin! Martha

We LOVE our cards and photos, too! I have all of the

cards and pictures hanging in our kitchen for all to

see. This was such a great idea!! I just sent ours

out a few days ago, so you should all be receiving

them any day now.

I have our cards addressed and ready to go - just waiting for a picture

of the boys to put in it. We have a picture on our fireplace and I've

taped all the pictures from the Christmas cards we've received on it -

so wonderful to put all the names and faces together. It was a wonderful

idea to exchange addresses this year.

Dear Beloved Charge List-

Our family has not sent out a Christmas card in six years. So much good

intention - never really got the photo together, was in a habit of including a

newsletter, and never really had the right moment and inspiration, blah blah

blah...each years delay made the plans for the following even more daunting...

this card exchange put things in a whole new priority. I wanted the cards to be

ontime. I wanted there to be a photo of our family. I wanted a montage of

to somehow show that the rough start does eventually lead somewhere.....

You can have anything you want, you can't have everything. Wanting the cards to

be ontime made the rest being " just right " secondary. So, I managed a montage

accessing only one small photo album and proofs of 's senior portrait. I

literally called the family together on a school night, set the camera up with

the remote on a kitchen chair. Took six pictures and chose the best of the six.

Sent it to Target on-line photo and picked them up the next day. The series of

photos that resulted in the one for the card are so funny - it makes a lovely

flip book of our family " in action " . :o)

I love the cards we have received so far. I love the loving, worn, cracked-open

look all our families have. I love the feeling of blessing and acceptance -

heaven here right now. Is this a glimpse of what a conference will be like? I

am not sure how I will manage faced with the overwhelming substance of our

families in person.

Thank you all so very much-

love,

yuka

I have to laugh! We always refer to " Deaf time " . IE: " Is that standard or

Deaf time start?? Seems like everything always starts 10-15 minutes late

because we have found the Deaf are very hard to get " rounded up " - too busy

chatting and hard to break away! Ever been to a Deaf function when it has

ended? It is even a joke among the Deaf: You say goodbye inside the home -

and chat some more; you say goodbye at the door - and chat some more; you

say goodbye on the porch - and chat some more; you say goodbye from the

sidewalk - and chat some more; you say goodbye from your car door - and ,

yes, CHAT SOME MORE!!!

haha,, I was thinking the exact same thing, Marilyn! So often time is referred

to as 'deaf time' among people who are deaf. There is even a group I know of

that is named " Deaf Standard Time'!

Yes, that is what a conference is like. Absolutely overwhelming in that

same way - full of " substance " , emotion, intensity, and love.

Ahhh, you guys make me smile with warmth. I don't even know what the card

exchange thing is all about but sounds really good and heartwarming. Well

done whoever came up with it. Sure I will find out next year and then fret

that we are a long way away and can't join in, but hey, maybe we could start

a UK chapter!

Marilyn made me laugh with " deaf time " . That may explain why I get on well

with deaf people. I run on African time and totally identify with the " deaf

goodbye " ! I will be sure to pass this on to my deaf friends for the

laughs. Hopefully, the habit is worldwide and the UK deaf people will find

it funny too.

Oh Yuka, I can't wait to get the card. The last picture of I have on
