Guest guest
- How wonderful! " We started him on 1 capsule of ProEFA a day at 22 months and added a 2nd capsule at 27 months. I'm now trying to decide whether to add 1 ProEPA or go with the Vitamin E instead. " Why not do both? gets 2 ProEFA/1 ProEPA twice a day (so, 6 capsules) plus 1 vitamin e capsule (400IU d-alpha with d-gamma mixed-in). Warm regards, ****************** (Rochester, NY) Mom to , 3.3 years, Verbal Apraxia & , 1.1 years (and babbling away!) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of epoxycozy Sent: Friday, September 01, 2006 2:42 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Things that make you go hmmmmm ... > > > " The child on ProEFA or some other EFA formula's like it no longer > fits the criteria of the classic definition of apraxia -and yet > doesn't fit the classic perception of what a late talker is > either.. My son is 2.6 (30 months) and both his speech therapist and the director of the center think he might " test out " and not qualify for services with the school district when he turns 3. They are also really reluctant to actually label him as apraxic because he has progressed so much so fast and now presents as a kid with a mild to moderate phonological disorder. From barely a dozen " words " at two along with classic oral apraxia (couldn't blow, lick, pucker, do rasberries etc.), he now is at above age level both in language and cognitively. He does still have significant articulation problems and some oral motor issues, but kids in our district don't normally qualify for services based on that alone. We are looking at a private preschool and private speech therapy for him after he is 3. I credit the fish oil for most of this (along with a great therapist and lots of homework). We started him on 1 capsule of ProEFA a day at 22 months and added a 2nd capsule at 27 months. I'm now trying to decide whether to add 1 ProEPA or go with the Vitamin E instead. Guest guest
" He can say many words now and tries to immitate everything he hears (dangerous! ) " Dangerous but wonderful! :-) is fond of saying " Shoot! " and " Stop it! " and " Thank you much! " and " So cute! " Adorable (and we are so GRATEFUL and THRILLED about it). " He has even learned to approximate armadillo! (ah ma di LO) FOUR syllables, yippee!! " LOVE it! is saying " alligator " and " broccoli " :-). " His speech therapists also say he doesn't present as apraxic anymore and no one is quite sure what's going on or how to diagnose him. " We are holding the apraxia diagnosis from our Developmental Pediatrician, as it gets us what we need at this point. " I have him on 2 Omega 3,6,9 (same as ProEFA) and 1 EPA a day. And of course I am going to try the vit E next. " Yep - we do 2 Omega 3-6-9 / 1 EPA twice a day and have just added the E. Here's to continued improvement for all of our kids! We are having the same experience. My son was barely verbal at 24 mos (da da) and could not blow or move his tongue on command. Now he can blow bubbles, blow a horn, move his tongue laterally and up. He can say many words now and tries to immitate everything he hears (dangerous! ) He has even learned to approximate armadillo! (ah ma di LO) FOUR syllables, yippee!! His speech therapists also say he doesn't present as apraxic anymore and no one is quite sure what's going on or how to diagnose him. He's almost 29 mos now and I have him on 2 Omega 3,6,9 (same as ProEFA) and 1 EPA a day.
