Guest guest
Hello. I have a 5 yo DS who has been diagnosed with apraxia of speech. We also had a psych eval that showed is IQ in the mildly mentally retarded range. I am somewhat doubtful about the mmr diagnosis because I don't think they got a good test due to the fact that my son would not behave during the test. It has been over a year since the test, and he was diagnosed with apraxia last fall. He also has really low muscle tone and is weaker on his left side. I started him on Carson DHA for kids on Feb 1, I was giving him 2 capsules a day, and the results have been amazing. He seems almost like a new boy. However, I don't really know how much fish oil I should be giving him. Both our doctor and his speech therapist pooh-poohed the idea (of fish oil) when I brought it up, but I started him on it anyway. The dose I have been giving him is 2 capsules of 640 mg of fish oil, so 1280 mg for a 38 lb 5 year old. Is that too high? I don't want to hurt him, only give him enough to help. We have him in private ST, OT, and PT. We have chosen to homeschool, and I am wondering if there is anything that you all do at home to help with learning to read and also with receptive language skills? THank you, Angie in WV

Guest guest
Hi April, I have a herniated T11/T12 and have the same thing, pain and tingling numbness running around my middle back to the front. Its like having a bad stitch all the time and mine is on the right side as well. I take neurontin as well and it helps with the numbness but not the pain which is as bad if not worse than my herniated lower disks. I walk around holding my side all the time and sitting makes it worse. My doctor totally ignores this disk and I can sympathise with you on this.
