UGH! This will be the first time I have gone to a buffet since starting WW

01/17/05! Tomorrow is a MAJOR busy day... two church services, a meeting

after 2nd service, then a meeting at 's Steakhouse (boy do I wish they

still had a menu to order off of!) & then a meeting at another couple's

house tomorrow evening!

I may skip the meeting tomorrow evening, but I have to attend everything

else! The one that has me worried is going to 's! I have printed out

all of the information from the WW website on that I might want to eat while

there & am going to mark it off AS I eat & not before (in case they don't

have what I pick) & not AFTER because I MAY forget something! I have

allotted 17 lbs for this excursion.

Please pray that I will have the strength to not just CAVE!

Thanks SO much for your support!

Good heavens woman...with planning like that I wouldn't give it much worry.

Go in knowing you're going to do well with managing your points. And if you

have a chance, get some folks to go for a stroll with you for 20-30

minutes...maybe at dessert time?

Good luck, . Remember to stay on the side of protein and salad.

Skip the rolls/bread which can add up fast...

,

I can totally relate. My biggest fear, also, are those going-out events.

I think what you have allotted sounds realistic. Last time I had to do

a breakfast " out " , I had something very simple. I told myself the whole

time I just needed to survive the next hour or so and then the challenge

would be over. I am trying to distinguish between events where I really

WANT to indulge, and those where I am only attending to be sociable or to

meet an obligation. On the occasions that I really WANT the food, then

I'd certainly plan to have my favorites and account for them. Otherwise

I don't even choose anything special, I just get by for as few points as

possible.

You can do it !

Load up on salad, and bring your own dressing either in a little Tupperware

container in your purse, or go to Subway and get a couple of those little fat

free salad dressing packets.

Just don't let those " fat pushers " talk you into eating anything that you don't

want to have.

Funny -- I just went out to a buffet lunch today and, even though I

was very restrained (shrimp, salad, 1/2 bagel and lox, fruit) I wound

up with 16 points when I counted everything. Buffets are very

difficult. Still, I will be just barely over points for the day when I

have dinner, and WI is tomorrow, so I'm proud of how I did! Goodness

knows this is NOT how I would have treated such a delicious buffet a

year ago. This is wonderful progress for me.

JB...You did good!

I went out to lunch too. I love traditional buffets because I can choose

fruits, vegs and usaully baked chicken or fish. Today I went out to lunch at an

old redwood logging camp that is now a dining place. It is great fun for

visitors because the dining takes place in the old, huge, dining hall and is

served family style. The food is very good but not weight watcher oriented.

All the food is made fresh from the bread to the pies. I ate very moderately,

eating lots of salad just dipping my fork in the blue cheese dressing just

small amounts of the different foods served and I passed on the pie. I still

figure I ate about 23 points. My points level is 24 for the day. I did not

stuff myself and am very happy with my choices and had a great lunch without the

food being on control. Yay! I will use a few flex points today. I am very

happy to be able to eat out with the family and be able to just eat moderately

and be satisfied. That is a huge change for me. In the past I

have been in a mode of overeating till totally stuffed or obcessed with my

diet. I am counting my blessings.

Have a good day all...and a good week.

That's some great restraint JB....I found out the same thing. Don't even ask

about going to places such as Ponderosa....the points add up soooo quickly.

I don't go there any more! There just isn't anything to eat there

that isn't fried or covered in mayonnaise. It's too scary . Maybe

one day I will understand how to eat at a place like that, but right

now I am not at that place in my weightloss life...
