Hi,

I just want to chime in with what we learned about gluten. Last fall I read

an article in Wall Street Journal about a man in his sixties whose

neurological symptoms had finally become unmanageable. He had the great

good fortune to be examined by a medical doctor who trained in Ireland,

where celiac disease runs rampant.

The doctor made the correct diagnosis and the man was helped by going

without gluten.

Right then and there I decided Jack would have this trial. For most of his

life, he has had abnormally large bowel movements, which many children with

disabilities on the spectrum of autism are reported to suffer.

The diet quickly remedied this.

We are overjoyed. Jack is sensitive and allergic to many foods and we try

to do a four day rotation diet, which now excludes both gluten and if

possible milk products, although these are apparently less offensive than

the gluten and inevitably do crop up in store bought cakes and cookies.

Yes, you are right about the eggs and corn and other allergies. I like

Doris Rapp's books on childhood allergy.
