Guest guest
, Jeanne here. I can suggest a wrist tag. from medic-id. If you like I can send you a form. The nice thing is they are very indescructible and you can mail them back to the manufacturer when your son's wrist size changes for a new one. Please contact me with your contact info off list and I'll get you the info on it. I have it for my son. jbmistletoe@... > > My son is 7 and is non verbal. I was suggested to have medical ID made for him. The problem is that he has SI dysfunction and can't stand bracelets or anklets. Necklace is out of question because he might choke himself - he is at 2 years old developmentally. Some suggested shoe laces but he is wearing braces and his shoes have velcro. I thought of tagging every piece of clothing he has. Are there tags that would stay readable with constant washing? > > He is not into running away but has no fear so at times may wonder away within seconds. Guest guest
P.S. the other thing is with is people would more likely look on a wrist for info, then trying to find one on a piece of clothing, you also might have problems sewing or stamping it on and having it not wash out! > > My son is 7 and is non verbal. Guest guest
, You can get an order form from major fabric stores and have the name tags printed to sew in clothes. I used to use them for my daughter she not a runner but if she did get lost she have not way of relling anyone her name. I have to bleach her clothes often and the tags stood up to the bleach, I was able to remove them from the clothes and put them in need items. Judy ----- My son is 7 and is non verbal. Guest guest
I copied the example from " The Late Talker " . My son has a tag on his shoe that doesn't dangle from gotags.com. It's supposed to go on a pet's collar so I would think a larger version would go on velcro. Here is a link: http://gotags.com/choose6.htm I got it in " gold " so it would be noticeable and it is because the therapist, librarian, my mother, and moms at the park have all noticed it without my saying anything. My son would not wear anything on his wrist because he is sensitive about his hands from a birth defect. > > My son is 7 and is non verbal. I was suggested to have medical ID made for him. Guest guest
, We are in a similar situation w/our son. I recommend this website, it has several different items so you can decide what will work best for your son. Good luck, Tara http://www.mypreciouskid.com/safety-products.html > > My son is 7 and is non verbal. I was suggested to have medical ID made for him. HIS MOMS TEL NO, DAD, GRANDPA AND MY NO. HE KNOWS IF HE GETS LOST TO GO TO A POLICE AND SHOW HIM THE TAG. BUT THEN WE GOT HIM A BABY LEASH IT S IN A FORM OF A BACKPACK DOGGY AND IT COMES W/ROPE SO WE CAN KEEP HIM CLOSE TO US. HE UNDERSTANDS THE REASON FOR IT AND ALSO THE TAG. HE WONT GO OUT WITHOUT IT. HE MAKES THE POLICE CAR SOUND AND SHOWS US THE TAG. THAT HE UNDERSTANDS. Guest guest
Does your Wal-Mart have one of the tag makers. You could make up a few, unlace his shoes and put the at the bottom of the lace. Shoes are now a place that EMT and police etc look for information. Heck some kids use them as fashion charms. Judy My son chew on a stainless steel bracelet (open and broke it). Other ideas?
