Balancing testosterone/dhea side effects (skin)

This is a relatively minor issue, but I wonder if anyone out there has

successfully balanced

the skin side effects that sometimes come with taking testosterone/dhea

(increased oil

production, breakouts).

I'm taking the latter after testing low and am really frustrated. Liver

cleansing herbs like

burdock, yellow dock, etc., seem to help some, but is there anything else I can

do?

Does topical estrogen have the same systemic effects as birth control (like

nicer skin)? I will

be starting that shortly...

Thanks and goodnight!

HI Glomer. ;)

As long as the E & T are used topically and just a tiny small peasize amt. it's not likely to go systemic and rare if it does. (always exceptions but not common) Though the T 'may' moreso...and cause an increase in libido *smile* and why I only used it getting well about every 3rd night. As I was leery initially just like many others might be... but my own experience sure showed I had nothing to worry about. ;)

And for maintenance, now that I 'am' well and have been... its once or twice a week along with the E. I've been on both for 9 years at least and 'I've' never had any negative or adverse reactions...

PLUS get this. *grin*

I also use E & T daily, 365 for my HRT replacement 2mgs of E & 2.50 mgs of T....and that too is easily for prob. 9 years with both, earlier yrs it was E alone, not realizing how E used alone (for HRT) depletes the T. *groan* Just like birth control depletes or lessens the E & T and why libido usually goes out the window on those as well.

So I use E & T for my whole body benefits, bones, heart, brain, endocrine system etc., in a sublingual form, (under the tongue) but that does not help the genitals, that has to be local and direct.

AND SO... I also use the E & T topical creams (peasize) strictly for the vulvar health since that isn't systemic which I don't need being I already take it sublingually.

Hope that helps hon... but honestly I saw no signs of at all of excessive oil in my skin or hairyness, clitoral enlargement, voice changes or aggressiveness you might hear about. Todays T is so much different than what they used years ago let alone the dosages they gave were more for men, it was no wonder. *sigh*... but used topically and sparingly the T.shouldn't affect us... but there are always exceptions.

By the way...I feel they should always be used together. I don't think I'd use the T alone (though you can, same as the E alone) but the way T works is to help strengthen and toughen up that tissue PLUS it restores those E. receptors so then you use the E too for it's best benefits, and it's E that the skin thrives on.

Dhea has helped my skin. I am 46 years old and before I started taking it, my skin was dry and flakey. Now its not! I did get tested and I was on the low side of DHEA and testosterone before I started taking it. Estrogen isn't the only hormone we become low in as we age!
