It actually might be an allergy or intolerance to the enzymes.

Hi Phyllis,

My daughter Meg has had dark circles under her eyes since I can

remember. I haven't found anything that has helped them. Different

people have told me their caused by different things, the most

common being allergies and phenol processing problems. We've

removed all of the foods she's sensitive to and no help...been on

EFAs for 9 months now and no help in this area either. So I may try

a product that is a digestive enzyme for phenols and see if that

helps. Seems like there has to be something behind this, but maybe

I'm reading too much into it. Meg gets lots of sound sleep, so I

really don't think that's an issue with her.

Let me know if you find anything that helps, and I'll do the same

for you!

It could be allergies! Both my kids and myself get horrible dark circles

under our eyes from trees, pollens and grasses. Once a dentist (completely

NOT her place!) gave me a huge lecture on how my kids weren't getting

enough sleep. Um, no! We ALL have allergies. The circles are worse

during spring and fall, but this winter has been so mild where we are that

we're getting them early. My older son has been on zyrtec for two years

during allergy seasons and it helped with the circles and helped so much

with his behavior! I started my younger last fall. We go off with first

frost, but we started up again this year in January and it has made such a

difference in their irritability level since we went back on.

I think it's allergies. I have had them all my life... kids used to tell me

" You have pen under your eyes. " Haha... I can't figure out what we are

allergic to... we've tried removing items, adding enzymes... I have no

clue... :)

occasionally has what our Developmental Pediatrician calls

" allergic shiners. " She tends to get them when she has an upper

respiratory infection. So, yes, she gets them occasionally as well.

Many people think this is a sign of allergies, but our " regular "

pediatrician said that she doesn't really show any other signs and

thinks that they are benign, as they come and go.

Warm regards,

Subject: [ ] Dark circles under eyes?

Hi, I've written a few times and my son is 5 yrs old and dx w/apraxia

oral

and falls under the Autism Spectrum. My question is this - do any of

your

children have dark circles under the eyes. I've noticed in the last few

months

that he is getting real dark circles under his eyes. At times it is

worse, but

can't seem to pinpoint anything different in his diet, etc.. Any

advice??

Thanks to everyone concerning the information on the dark circles. We live

in Fl and actually has an upper

respiratory infection, now. He does rub his nose a lot in the mornings. I

had a friend that told me when he left this are his daughter's dark circles

under her eyes left!!! So that's probably what it is. I took him to an

allergist and he was allergic to dust mites, but who isn't??

Once again thank you and it sounds like its an allergy and in South FL

something is always blooming

Actually not everyone is allergic to dust mites (but many asthmatics are).

But if you are allergic to the mites, its a good reason to pull carpets out

of at least the bedroom and get allergy covers for the mattress (and

possibly blankets and pillows). The greatest exposure is while one sleeps as

they live in your mattress and pillows (off human sloughed skin - kinda

gross, but there's an abundance of this in our mattresses. You may be

pleasantly surprised to see the shiners disappear, and an improvement in

asthma symptoms. But the covers are fairly expensive. -
