Guest guest
This is my first hypo experience, I just was diagnosed three months ago. I am wondering if it is just me or if anyone else is constantly worried about any other little thing that they are feeling and blow it way out of proportion. Guest guest
Well, for starters...we need to find ya a more cheerful nickname! lol I went through an extreme hypochondria phase...racing to the internet to find the absolute worst-case scenario for every ache and pain...achy joints became a precurser to osteoporosis, rickets or some obscure terminal tropical disease, etc. That's what I meant when I said that the internet can drive you nuts if you let it. I found the tip sheets put together by were helpful because they listed a range of various symptoms experienced by members of this group, always preceded by the caveat " YMMV " - Your Mileage May Vary. I found it helpful to look over the list and see if a particular pang was listed and if it was, I knew not to worry. Remember, this is not a contest...if you get the most symptons, you will NOT win a prize...lol While going hypo, I found it useful to have little projects to do to keep my mind focussed. Simple things like making floral wreaths or trying to stay in the lines while coloring with my son. I also bought a whole stack of silly, stupid, ridiculous movies to try and keep my mood positive. (If anyone wants a list if they're preparing for hypo or post RAI home isolation, I can post some. You can usually find them cheaply at garage sales and I lean towards family ones so our young son could watch.) Even so, sometimes I could find myself weeping through a Steve movie although he's so darn hilarious that invariably I would find myself giggling through my tears. I have an unsympathetic household so I never really got a proper pity party...lol Remember that thyroid levels intensely affect mood which can result in the extreme emotionalism. My husband describes my temperment during hypo as being as if I were experiencing puberty, PMS, pregnancy and menopause all at the same time. He kept threatening to build a little hut for me in the back yard where he would just throw food at me. Just remember, this too will pass.
