Weird Blood Test Results

Ok, this is strange, so I thought I'd better ask about it.

I just got the results back from my blood test I took last Friday, and

they seem opposite to what they should be. The previous test was from

a month ago when I was still quite jaundiced, and since then my

jaundice has almost completely gone away, just a slight tinge to the

corners of my eyes remains. But, this latest test shows my biliary

levels as being higher than my previous test, which would indicate I

should be more jaundiced now, not less.

Has this happened to anyone else? I am totally confused.

Trevor,

The liver enzyme numbers don't always move up and down in harmony. Sometimes one number might go up while another one is coming down. Normally jaundice is normally directly related to the Bulirubin. If this number has gone up but your jaundice has reduced I would find this confusing, especially if it continues on your next test (which I would push to be sooner).

I've had a fairly high bilirubin w/out being jaundiced (or not noticeably

jaundiced). But for the bilirubin to go up when the jaundice disappears is

strange.

Don’t know what happened to this reply, but it didn’t

all come out ...here it is again...

>>> indicate I

You know I

had an opposite thing happen with my daughter...back in late 2005 she looked

yellowy even in her eyes...they didn’t bring her in to see her, they just

sent her to the lab...then made an appointment for later that month...well, the

blood work came back fine, and by the time the appointment came she

wasn’t yellow at all...so they acted like I was lying to them or

something.

I know

that doesn’t help the confusion...but you know I always questioned myself

after that...were we all just seeing things...or was she yellow. LOL

Yeah, I'm thinking this may be a sign that while my jaundice has been

fading, it's about to come back in a bad way. Does the appearance of

jaundice tend to lag behind the initial rise of bilubrin levels?

Either way I'm checking up with my doctor again tomorrow, as they

should have decided the next step in my treatment by then. Wish me luck.

My doctors told me that the visual evidence lagged the blood test. So

unfortunatly for you that means that you will be getting more yellow.

Ah, thanks for the confirmation on that. I contacted my Doctor today

and they are putting me back on antibiotics and planning another CT

Scan. Here we go again, but at least I know what I'm dealing with.
