Guest guest
Hi All: Well I'm back home in NJ. Israel was absolutely beautiful and absolutely breathtaking. But I am totally exhausted! I'm catching up on messages - first of all, welcome to our newest members. Sophia, Kathleen and - I hope all is moving forward for you, and I hope you can all get your kidneys soon. , I was sorry to hear that you may need to start dialysis, and I hope you can get your testing done quickly. Rita - I hope you feel better soon, and Amy I hope the taper continues to improve. BTW - Tinklebell did great in Israel - she's a real trooper (just like my sister). __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome back, I am glad you had a great time! Can you share any pictures of Israel with us? ; ) I'm also very glad that your new kidney did so well on your trip? Did you face any challenges or worries? I know that Kris and I will want to start travelling again post-tx, so I'm curious to hear about your experience! Sophia > Hi All: > > Well I'm back home in NJ. Guest guest
Sophia: I will be posting some pictures soon (I posted one of me). I am editing them for the web to make them smaller. The only concern was adjusting my med clock to the local time (it was +7 hours). What I did was to take the meds a couple of hours later each day (from my NJ local time) to adjust. It took about 3 days to do this. Other than that, just avoided the grapefruit and enjoy all the local foods. yipee_ladybug yipee_ladybug@...> wrote: Hi , Welcome back, I am glad you had a great time! Guest guest
Hi , I feel kinda embarrased for haranging you for pics. Right after I posted my msg, I saw your next msg that you posted a picture of your trip! Heh. I feel silly asking, but why can't you eat grapefruit? Is it to do with bp meds? Guest guest
Hi , How are you doing? is doing ok, he did have a few side effects the next day, but this does seem to happen every time he gets solumedrol. Oh, how I wish I could take his place. When he does need a new kidney I hope I will be able to give him mine. W4JC@... wrote: Hi , How is doing after his treatment? I am glad he was able to do it as an outpatient. It just must be so hard to have to watch your son go through so much. I know for me, I would much rather it be me than one of my girls. His protein level is still high, but I am glad it is at least coming down and moving in the right direction. I pray he sees improvement with every treatment. How is doing? just had treatment yesterday and for the first time we did it outpatient. It was so nice not to have to stay overnight. He got 1gm of solumedrol. And best of all, instead of those 24hr urines he does monthly, the neph had him pee in the toilet at 10:00 pm and again in the toilet at 1:00am (he had to be at rest and not get up) and then he had to urinate in the bottle 1st thing a.m. and then off to the lab. The good news is his albumin is coming up slowly on its own, which means his protien has now improved to 4000mg, which I know is still high, but this is such an improvement for him. His neph mentioned doing another biospy within the next year. He is currently on cozzar 25mg, calcium, fishoil, and now we are going to start him on microphentolate 750mg bid today. I hope you and are having a nice summer!
Guest guest
Sophia: Harange away - I'm used to it from home. Grapefruit can change the way the meds are absorbed (such as statins and prograf). It actually makes prograf levels higher, which is just as bad as too little, yipee_ladybug yipee_ladybug@...> wrote: Hi , I feel kinda embarrased for haranging you for pics. Guest guest
Hi , I am glad to hear that is doing ok with only a few side effects to his latest round of treatment. Betsy is a mom here on the group that gave a kidney to her son. Let's pray does not get to the point where he needs a kidney though! As for me, I went to my Neph last Monday and I have two weeks to get my creatinine back down or else it is time to prepare for dialysis. I was hoping that I would be able to work the timing to get a preemptive transplant, but we will just have to wait and see. I am still counting my blessings every day and trusting God for His perfect timing. Thanks for asking. In a message dated 7/28/2005 11:01:06 A.M.
