Guest guest
Hi Kelley: I've had what are called visual migraines but not related to the LID .. For me while they were not as painful, I found them frightening. I found taking aspirin as soon as I felt one coming on helped with dilation of the blood vessels and they passed more quickly. I hope this might help you. Elaine
Guest guest
For those eperiencing the migraines when they started the LID, were you coffee or soda drinkers? Perhaps the new lack of caffeine could be the migraine culprit. This does cause mine, and they are excrutiating! , PA 7/2/03 dx pap thru FNA 7/17/03 TT pap 2.1x1.9x1.0cm diff,multi-focal(1-3mm lesion through out) plus 1 lymph node and lesion outside of thyroid. Guest guest
I've never drank more than 24 oz of diet coke a week, and then, only for migraines as a cocktail with vioxx and tylenol. -Kelley Re: LID and migraines For those eperiencing the migraines when they started the LID, were you coffee or soda drinkers? Guest guest
I don't drink coffee, but LID certainly didn't make me stop drinking either tea or boatloads of diet soda (with & without caffeine)! However -- if caffeine withdrawal is that much of a problem, maybe it's a problem that should be addressed separately later? bj Re: LID and migraines > For those eperiencing the migraines when they started the LID, were you > coffee or soda drinkers? Guest guest
Dear , There is no need to stop caffeine on the LID. If you use cream or milk in your coffee, just leave it out while you're on the LID. Watch the ingredients on non-diary creamers. Some contain soy or other non- lid stuff. As for soda, knock yourself out! you can have them until you burst. As for other reasons for the headaches, some folks have posted that being hypo triggered headaches, too. Guest guest
Yes, I too have had migraines, but I don't think mine are caffine, they started about TSH 30. My NMD is letting me use Imitrex nasal spray I had perscriped before for migraines and it takes the edge off, but isn't resolving the migraine for good. I use about one Imitrex 20mg dose almost every day and a half. I get my treatment dose of 50 mCR on Thursday, so I'm living for the light at the end of the tunnel. Guest guest
BJ, thanks for the concern. Actually I addressed this very issue of caffeine-withdrawl induced migraines years ago. I limit the amounts I drink and don't have a problem. But when I was in college, I would drink like 2 64oz. thirst busters a day!!! Needless to say, if I didn't have any, woah! Docs said it might have to do with caffeine being a diuretic, yadda yadda yadda... I'm not a doctor and I don't even play one on tv, okay bad joke! Anyway, thanks for the thought.... in PA
Guest guest
We really have a group of compassionate people on this board! Here I am trying to wrack my brain trying to think of all the possible ways and whys someone might have migraines on LID, and now everyone is concerned about me! LOL I know we don't HAVE to limit caffeine, but I know some folks won't drink it black, so I thought maybe they gave it up during LID, or I have come across people who we over-achievers on the LID and incorrectly thought they had to eliminate all sodium, not just the iodine-containing sodium, so maybe they gave up soda. In any event, I haven't even done the LID yet, I start on Sept. 15 for my RAI on Oct. 7 (tests beginning Oct.1). But I learn so much everyday on this board! Thanks All! in PA TT 7/17/
