Guest guest
Greetings! Is anyone here familiar with the rules for licensing an aircraft as an ambulance? Is a provider able to rent an aircraft (not licensed, or licensed to another provider) and staff it with his own medics? Would their ground provider license need to be modified to include air provider license? Just curious about some rumblings, Joe Percer, LP
Guest guest
It is called a " WET " Lease. That is, helicopter companies such as PHI, ERA, Metro Aviation, ect. provide the medically configured aircraft, pilots, mechs, insurance, fuel. You as the leasee would provide the medical staff and equipment. You have to pay the agreed on monthly amount plus X amount of dollars per flight hour. If the helicopter does not move an inch you still have to pay the monthly fee no matter what. The more flights you make the more you pay. It is a very expensive venture. The aviation companies will make a profit no matter what because it is built into the contract. Anything above that is pure profit for them. On the other hand, you are able to bill your patient's for the flight. However, if they are non-funded you are pretty much out of luck. If you are considering getting into the buisness, you better have some pretty deep pockets. Hope this answered your questions. > > Greetings! > > Is anyone here familiar with the rules for licensing an aircraft as an > ambulance? > > Is a provider able to rent an aircraft (not licensed, or licensed to another > provider) and staff it with his own medics? > > Would their ground provider license need to be modified to include air > provider license? > > Just curious about some rumblings, > > Joe Percer, LP > > >
