Guest guest
Dear List- Thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm for . He is so excited to have his acceptance letter! He has applied to two colleges, both are near us. CSUN is about 25 minutes away, is public (less $$$), has over 30,000 students (large) and has established services for the deaf (a plus and a minus). He has also applied to Cal Lutheran, which is five miles away, is private (more $$$ - but he is on his own empowered and happily searching for funding!), small, intimate, friendly, caring campus with no established services for the deaf - but very willing and reponsive. I am not sure when CLU will let him know his status. CLU is his first choice. I wanted to share that the CLU essay question was (paraphrased) " In twenty years you receive a prestigious award. For what do you receive it and how do you feel? " This was right up 's alley! He gave them three scenarios. As an astrobiologist identifying alien life. As a biologist definitively establishing the existence of sasqwuatch and as a neurologist pioneering regeneration techniques to halt and repair degenerative neural conditions. So, why did I worry about the perseverating fantasies? ) more as it happens...... with the greatest love, yuka p.s. to newer families - when was an infant, I did not feel he was so mildly affected. He has six surgical procedures and twenty six studies under general anesthesia in his first few years. He was very low tone, very late to walk, communicate and demonstrate his capacity. He was medically fragile - tracheotomy, g-tube, hairline trigger reflux, chronic upper respiratory infection for the first four years of his life with recurring pneumonias......we move forward one tiny step at a time... there is no telling what will come up or predicting much of anything by how things start...... for better or worse.
