Guest guest
Thank you so much for these inspiring words. I couldn't have expressed it better. We have a 3.5 year old daughter with severe apraxia, hypotonia, and SID, who has a few words (approximations) and a year ago I thought she would be talking by now. What she is doing is constantly teaching our family that patience is a virtue and to appreciate the little things in life that we all have taken for granted. She is the youngest of five and my oldest is 10. It is amazing to me how loving, gentle, kind, and patient they are with her. Thanks again Jlynch
Guest guest
Keep that level of faith and all will turn out great.... Ben & Jola Obire wrote: Thought I'ld share this.... Perfect Timing “There is a right time for everything†Ecclesiastes 3:1 " It's not easy to be patient when you want something to happen. Waiting for your birthday to come or for summer to start can be so hard! But God has a time for everything. He made the seasons long enough for flowers and trees to grow. He made the days long enough for both work and play. When you get impatient, remember that everything happens exactly when God wants it to. His time is the perfect time. God's in control of the days and the seasons. He plans it all for the greatest of reasons. This is an excerpt from my children's daily devotional bible. It greatly reminded me of my 4 3/4 yr old son who has some developmental delay. He was diagnosed with Verbal Apraxia when he was 3yrs old. Apraxia is the inability to make a voluntary movement in spite of being able to demonstrate normal muscle function. My son cannot talk normally like a 5yr old, he talks like an 18month old due to this. When he was diagnosed and we were told the therapy he needed, my husband and I thought he would be able to speak soon after the therapy kicked off. We were very anxious for him to say his first word. But it was not so. We were made to realize that we were in for a long haul. He would be thought how to make consonants and vowel sounds to form words. And even before he does that, there is the mouth exercise, how to move is tongue, teeth, lips and his whole body in different ways into motivation. The whole family is taking baby steps with my son to achieve this. After being through several therapy sessions with him, I realized that this would be a “Patience Schoolâ€. What is so normal for kids of my son’s age is a struggle for him. To talk, wear his shoes, brush his teeth…. My husband and I realized that our patience will have to be extensive if we desire to help our son. After a year of therapy, my son can say some words and sign language to communicate. There will come a ‘time’ when he will say two word sentence, three , four, five six .....word sentences and there will come a ‘time’ when he will talk non-stop because there is indeed a " right time for everythingâ€. God will perfect it in His own ‘time’ not ours.
