is doing well today. His color is great. His incision looks good. Liver functions are really good for just being transplanted. He was extubated (taken off the ventillator) around 3 this afternoon and has been breathing great on his own. He's pretty ticked off at not being able to drink anything, yet. They took the art line (arterial line, where they kept a constant measure of his blood pressure) today, along with the femoral catheter (the line that went into the artery in his leg that they'd originally used for dialysis when they started him on it two weeks ago) both out. So that's nice for him. He did start running a fever tonight, was up to 102.7, but most recently it was down to 100.5. They did blood cultures, of course, in case he's septic or has a line infection, and they sent the tip of the femoral line for culturing, also. If he

DOES have an infection, hopefully it was that femoral line, because then the source of it is gone and we won't have too much time of antibiotics. 's kidneys are definitely back to normal for him. He put out over 3000cc's of urine yesterday. (For comparison, that's about 9 cans of soda.) Because he was peeing so much, they finally gave him a dose of his dDAVP (the stuff that keeps him from peeing him self to dehydration & death), which worked a little TOO well, so then he wasn't peeing enough. 24 hours later they gave him a dose of lasix (diuretic to help make him pee). By that time, the dDAVP was wearing off finally, so now he's peeing like a maniac again. Went from 40cc's an hour to well over 100cc's an hour - LoL. Tried to tell the resident yesterday that 's DI (Diabetes Insipidus) was the thing that is going to complicate things the most, but she'd never actually DEALT with

it with him, since he came over to PICU in kidney failure, not peeing at all. Everyone's doing alright. Tired, but glad we've made it this far. And 's doing well, so we're happy. Thank you everyone for all your love and support and prayers the last few days, and throughout all of this. You have all been wonderful.
