We made all the arrangements to get the boys from camp to their house and then get my son back home. I told my son he would be swimming at this friend's house. The next day I got up and got everything ready for camp and swimming later. For the life of me I couldn't remember whose house he was supposed to go to!! I remembered all the details except whose mother I spoke to and whose house he was going to! I had to ask my 10 year old son. He looked at me like I had lost my mind. Guest guest
Hi All, I just started back on my meds a week ago so this is pretty funny reading these. While I was very hypo, went to pick up pizza for the family and was driving to the pizza shop and got lost. We go to the same pizza place all of the time. I was driving down the street and said to my daughter, oh no I don't know where the pizza shop went, she said Mom you are going the wrong way it is the other way down the street so I turned around and headed down the other way and still could not find it, I drove right past it and then got really scared to think I was on the road. I think maybe they should put us all together in a little community for hypo people only. We would understand each other perfectly. Keep the stupid things coming. I was trying to think of anything I did that was really funny besides not walking straight and going into a room and forgetting why I was there (I did that a lot too!) I'm still thinking that I'm still a little on the hypo side since I can't hardly remember a few weeks ago! I can think of one time, when I was at work...me and my boss were chatting about things (I can't really remember what). As we were talking, he got the key out to open one of the locked file cabinets. As we talked, he opened it and got what he needed and locked it back up. He put the key back and he pulled on the cabinet to make sure it was locked. So it was like I just woke up when I saw him do that and so I was just talking and walked over to the key, got it out and handed it to him. He looked at me wierd and was like what are you doing? And I said, weren't you trying to get into the cabinet? He started laughing and said, no I already did while we were talking and just put the key back. We laughed about it for a while. Thank God he had a good sense of humor. He understood that I was having issues. I don't know if its as funny written down, but it was funny at the time. I think I did a lot of crazy things while I was at work hypo. Anyway thanks for the laughs! Guest guest
> My short-term memory has gone right out the window. Does anyone else have > any company for my misery? > > * * * * * * * * * * * A NEW VIRUS ALERT!! I just recieved this from a reliable source! There seems to be a new computer virus called the " Hypo Virus " that even McAfey and Norton programs can't catch. It's seems to target computers owned by people with low thyroid hormone levels. Symptoms of the Hypo Virus are as follows: 1. Causes you to send the same e-mail twice. 2. Causes you to send blank e-mails. 3. Causes you to send an e-mail to the wrong person. 4. Causes you to send an e-mail back to the person who sent it to you. 5. Causes you to forget to attach attachments. 6. Causes you to hit " send " before you finish the e-mail. 7. ......? 8. I forgot what 7 was. Prolonged exsposure to an affected computer can cause similar symtoms to appear, such as forgetting the name of your dog or child, calling your dog by your child's name, locking doors or gates while standing on the wrong side of same, forgetting what you're saying in the mid.... Guest guest
Per my previous post, I forgot to mention: While hyPER, I had hyPo symptoms. I backed the car out of the drive, went to lock the gate and realized I was on the wrong side of the fence (Thank God I had the keys in my hand; I forgot to put them back on key ring.) I also washed the same load of clothes 3 times, since I kept forgetting to put them in the dryer for a day or 2. I've mis- placed several things (2 of which I'm sure will show up eventually!) The next few weeks should be interesting, but at least I know I have friends. Thanks. Donna
Guest guest
Donna, My daughter has Grave's disease which is the fancy name for hyperthyroidism. Lack of concentration is also a symptom of hyperthyroidism It's actually how we discover her illness. She had been a straight A student until then (she was in 5th grade) and in 20 weeks her grades dropped from A's to F's. She wasn't turning in work that she had completed and she couldn't get her school supplies from her classroom to the van. I constantly observed her not hearing (or remembering instruction). Her teacher also said she would give her instructions and then Kaitlyn would turn around and have no idea what was just said. It was so frustrating not knowing why all this was happening. Of course the school was determined she had ADD, and while I know it's a legitimate illness I just knew in my heart it wasn't her problem....which is when I started dragging her to doctors. I was so impressed with her pediatrician who immediately said lets test her thyroid when we explained the problems. The poor child was having heart palpitations daily and had never told me. Anyway.... a long explanation to say ...yes.... the symptoms are similar in some instances! Blessings Friend!! Guest guest
Did you get a 2nd degree burn on your thumb too? Someday we'll compare hypo scars. -Kelley Re: Re: What stupid thing did you do while hypo? Note to self: It's REALLY not good to touch pot on stove with thumb.
